I'd say Farhenhenit did it better really. Heavy Rain is sort of a goofy plot hole filled mess. I find it amusing the games as art crowd champions it so much, It's essentially the equal of a fun summer beach read. A Dean Koontz novel at most. I appreciated what they tried to do but they mostly failed. I'm kind of amazed that a game that put so much time into the facial animation has probably among the worst voice acting of the console generation. You'd think that'd be one aspect they got right.

That is disinformation right there - this game has no plot holes. The only half a hole I can think of is the father character's 'trips' that are not given explanation in the end but that doesn't affect the story anyhow. Max Payne had trips too but noone complained and most ppl enjoyed them. Btw, Heavy Rain and Max Payne 2 have similar atmosphere (dark noir) and that was another thing I loved.
I agree about the voice acting tho - some actors are weak.
Journey
Demon's Souls even though Dark Souls is better in most ways, Demon's Souls is still worth a playthrough and, in my opinion, much more memorable than Dark Souls.

I thought Uncharted and inFAMOUS were lame.

Valkyria Chronicles is great.

Yakuza 3 and 4. It's like playing a Japanese TV drama. It's fantastic. And you don't need to play the previous games to understand whats going on. It helps, but there is also a recap video, 30 minutes long, for each previous game, on the disc for both yakuza 3 and 4.

So basically you're saying there's no plot holes except for this one gigantic plot hole. If there's no plot holes, kindly explain Ethan's blackouts in non fanwank speak. When a story has gigantic red herrings it doesn't bother to explain, that's the very defintion of a plot hole.

It's also far from the only one. Avoiding getting too spoilery, but the endgame of my story had someone seeming to be dead....and then showing up alive in the epilogue with seemingly no explanation to why they did.

SPOLER ALERT
his child was driven over by a car in front of his eyes. if that is not a reason enough to go a little coocoo then i don't know what is.

dead person showing up for ending is actually hilarious xD if that really happened, i take my words back. but my ending was all proper.

Going a little crazy sure. Replicating the acts of a famous serial killer is just a lazy misdirection of the audience. And yes, my ending had someone on the brink of death show up for a super happy dappy special ending. I kind of extrapolated some things (again trying to not spoil for people that haven't played it) as to why it happened but it really should not be up to the me to do so given the circumstances (I actually considered it was the dreamlike dying fantasy of the person too but other evidence counteracted that).

hercufles: And the looks of your avatar you like dungeon crawlers as well? Psn has a remake of wizardry wich I am addicted to atm, You havent said what you like about shooters because of the singleplayer or the multiplayer part?
Yes, I like dungeons! That Wizardry game looks cool. As for shooters I've historically enjoyed both single player and online but pretty soon I am moving to a rural location where I will only be able to get Internet via satellite so online shooters won't be doable. I don't think any online gaming will be possible with the high pings unfortunately.

Then you will be ok because some companies the multiplayer is very bad on the ps 3 like ea multiplayer games. eat time with resistance and killzone. You can even get a bundle re 1 and 2 together well at least in my area it is. I have to warn about wizardry with the strange anime style can be bit silly sometimes(If you walk in a wall I got the feeling the female cast get an orgasm or something.) And get be addicting And one tip if you gonne play that game buy a map at the shop so the game makes an automap for you if you push the square button.

nagytow: There's not that many X360 exclusives because it's too similar to PC so games from Xbox can be quite easily ported and developers can earn more money.
It basically is a closed platform PC. The X in Xbox refers to Direct X.

Ric1987: Atelier series (I really like these games but they're not for everybody)
Disgaea 4: A Promise Unforgotten
Sad isn't it, these are the first 2 games that particularly interest me in the line-up mentioned so far on PS3... I really wish PS3 had anywhere close to a similar JRPG/TRPG line-up as 2 but it really doesn't look like it ;_;

This shows me I forgot to put Tales of Graces f in my post.
Thank you very much all for the many good suggestions. I've gone and read up on these and many are games I think I would enjoy playing. My Gamespot wishlist is brimming with PS3 goodness now. I am going to go with a PS3 this summer! I like all the cool exclusives and the many cool Japanese games look great too.
Ni No Kuni - from creator Hayao Miyazaki soon to have an American release.

Demon's Souls is a must-play, but will require you to take a sabbatical from life.

I can do that!

dirtyharry50: I'll go on Gamespot to read about the games suggested here so I can learn more about them.
.
Please don't. Gamespot are pretty bad nowadays. You should try looking at GiantBomb.com for more informative reviews (for the most part).
