Hi,

Today I found my old copy of Prisoner of Ice (Windows 95 version), I could start the game and it seems to be running fine, the only problem I have is that I can't get the game to work in fullscreen mode.

Anyone here managed to get this gem to work in fullscreen glory on Win7 (64 bit version)?

Thanks in advance.

Tried mucking about with compatibility settings? Pressing ALT+F while in the window?

I wish I found MY old copy of Prisoner of Ice - I haven't lost many PC games over the years - but that was one of them!

Windows 95 mode and ALT+ Enter didn't help, will try ALT+F.

Tried the DOS version? Might be easier to just DOSBox it...
If I remember correctly playing this game years ago on an actual Windows 95 this version of the game dosn't have a full screen mode!
Game screen size depends on your system resolution.

You can always check field in compatibility mode to run it in 640x480 to make it "fullscreen" window.

As JudasIscariot said, you should consider installing the Dos version and run it via Dosbox. The disc should contain a separate installer for that. Note that most early Windows 95 games (1995/96) were natively developed for DOS anyway, so usually the DOS version is the more polished and stable one anyway.
Unfortunately on my disc there is only Windows version of the game. Pity.

I ... Don't think he's still actually looking for help, nearly a year later. But I might be wrong. How did you even FIND this thread!?
I have a similar problem with Microprose's old Magic the Gathering game. Solution: I use RESCHANGE.EXE to...

1. change my screen rez to 1024x768
2. launch MAGIC.EXE to play the game
3. restore the desktop rez when Magic exits

Google it and you'll find it.

Maybe person who created the tread isn't intrested, but someone else migth be :) and since there hasn't been clear answer I thought i could reanimate it :)

And I find it when I was looking for information about Prisoner of Ice and Win7 of course:)
Totally forgot this thread, sorry about that.

I now have the DOS version and it does indeed appear to work perfectly fine on W7 with Dosbox.

So thanks for that advice, I didn't know a DOS of Prisoner of Ice existed.
