After listening to the new Gorillaz album, I've decided that while it's not as jaw-droppingly awesome as Demon Days (practically an impossibility), it's pretty amazing on its own terms. Most of the music this time around is very downbeat and relaxing, fitting the theme of a beach. It's a very different beast, but while I was initially disappointed in not getting another Demon Days, I've come to really enjoy the more laid-back nature of the tracks. I'd recommend it.

That said, I think I'll check it out. Demon Days was goddamned awesome in every way and if this has even a fraction of its awesomeness I'll like it.

First two tracks are shit, the rest are pretty awesome. Screw you, Snoop Dogg!
Also, the iTunes LP version comes with a bunch of videos for different songs on the album, as well as a behind-the-scenes video for the filming of Stylo.

How to make you buy twice the same product...
It appears that you have to buy, at least, the japanese edition and the iTunes edition to have all the tracks, as well as all the special features.
This is getting really annoying, why the pysical special edition can't have all the contents?
Well, to force you (re)buy it on iTunes...

That's actually what happened to me. I got the iTunes LP because it had all those videos and the two extra tracks, but I didn't realize I needed to get the Experience Edition to get the Making Of DVD and Experience access on the new website, which includes a live stream to a concert. I do like the album, though, and it was nice to have a physical version, especially since I don't have many of those now.

The Japanese editions of the Gorillaz albums always have neat bonus tracks. Maybe the Japanese eat this shit up, who knows.

Stylo is, of course, very awesome. Sounds like an 80s cop movie, even if 80s cop movies didn't sound like this. Maybe I'm thinking of Beverly Hills Cop. Who knows...
Cloud of Unknowing is one of the most heartfelt slow songs I've ever heard. The orchestra, combined with this amazing R & B singer named Bobby Womack (who I've never heard of but am now desperately searching for stuff he was in) creates this beautifully sad piece, further amplified with the war footage the iTunes music video has.
White Flag, Superfast Jellyfish, and Sweepstakes are very fun raps. It's a great break from all the really serious rap you hear all the time.
Some Kind of Nature, Empire Ants, and To Binge are excellent two-artist songs. The latter two are especially amazing, with some person named Little Dragon singing along with Damon Albarn. Lou Reed is in Some Kind of Nature, and his talking somehow goes really well with the song, even if he's not singing.
Rhinestone Eyes, like Stylo, is a more traditional Gorillaz song. Damon raps to a very catchy electronic beat. There are other traditional ones, but they don't stand out as much.
As for my least favorite, Snoop Dogg contributes a useless second intro. He phones it in.

I can't believe you keep saying that Snoop's song is the worst when clearly the worst song in the CD is Sweepstakes.

I guess I'm a little lean on Sweepstakes because I liked the music backing the song. Yeah, the rap isn't so good. But I also really didn't like how Welcome to the Plastic Beach was just "Hey, guess what, we paid for Snoop Dogg! Here he is! Thanks for popping in for a sec, Snoop!"
People seem to be pretty divided when it comes to the raps on the album. Some people despise the Snoop track, some loathe White Flag, others want t o stab out their ears on Superfast Jellyfish, and many really don't like Sweepstakes.
