I thought it was a typo, maybe £16.99 or even £7.99, but no it's really £67.99.
Looking at the Steam forum for the game, people are not happy! Some quite entertaining reads - http://steamcommunity.com/app/233250/discussions/
At first I thought "Oh wow, Europe is REALLY getting worked over on price this time". Then I checked the store page in my region, and they're charging 90 US dollars for it.
True but it's for Alpha access, Beta access will be 60 bucks and I don't know what retail is going to be.

Why you would want to pay more for an unfinished game is beyond me. I guess the feeling that you have an actual hand in improving the game is worth it for some people.
Dear GOG,

When that survey asked about paying more to get alpha access to games, I really hope this isn't what you had in mind.

Thanks.

Edit: Good Lord, this game got 2 million from Kickstarter and are still charging this for early access?

Also, yes I know GOG wouldn't put up something for $90 damn dollars. I think

One of the posts on the steam forum linked said retail will be $40.

82€ here. Maybe April fools?
~$70 here...
I could get an actual planetary annihilation for that price.

NOTE: I just thought that sounded funny. A good game is priceless.

I just checked the KS page; for backers, the tiers were

$20 for just the final game
$40 for beta+final game
$90 for alpha+beta+final game

I understand that Early access at this point is the alpha version, so it may seem expensive but it shouldn't be unexpected.
I don't see the problem. This is the same package from kickstarter but there wasn't complaints then. If you aren't interested, don't buy it, simple.

I also get annoyed at people refering to the kickstarter funds as reason not to charge money for the game, even to the point of this justifying piracy. The amount raised is *NOT* enough to keep such a company running. They still need to sell the game.

The kick start funds are for just that - giving the funds to start the project, not funds to run the entire business.

True. I only saw this game on greenlight but havent gone to their KS page still paying almost 5x the final game for alpha beta.Their rules i guess.
$90 for an alpha is just fucking greedy. They may have gotten away with that on Kickstarter, but Steam isn't Kickstarter and shouldn't be used as such. Hopefully the majority of Steam users will use their brains this time and avoid this shite like the plague. But given the current love for zombies, I fear they'll run towards any kind of plague with open arms...
In the old days you got paid for alpha and beta testing. This marketing at its finest :)

As for unfinished games in general, I stay away from them because I burn out before the final game is released, which is kind of silly, no? :)
This is definitely just for impatient, hardcore fans only. But i'm afraid will be a norm in coming few months or years.

Why are you afraid? I still don't understand what the problem is. This is a high end comes with steak knives bundle, nothing new here.
Glad I'll have it for 20$, but yes that steam price is a bit over exaggerated still people are acting like spoiled kids... that project wouldn't exist if the backers didn't fed the machine before they even considered to whine because its too expensive for an alpha, and yes uber should perhaps reconsider it to reach a more standard release price to have more people to actually playtest the game.
