You know, I sometimes think to myself, does PS:T actually, really NEED a sequel?

If a sequel actually happens I would like to see a completely different main character, set in the same gameworld or something like that.
Direct sequel? No.

But Planescape is too awesome world to be left just like that. It has tons of potential.
Yea I saw the news about Fargo getting rights to the Torment license. Sounds great! :)
That is pretty awesome. :)
I really don't know if I want that.

Quite ironic, considering that I am normally the guy who says "A sequel does not diminish the quality its original".

I think every direct sequel will destroy the original. That story is closed, there's nothing more that is needed to be said.

On the other hand, as I've said, Planescape multiverse is so amazing that it can be a place for thousand different stories. And that kind of 'sqeuel' I'd really love to see.
We needs a Devil May Cry clone with Lady of Pain as the main character.
That's something I'd gladly pledge to. While I pledged to Project Eternity, and I hope it will turn out to be a great RPG with a good story, I felt that it wasn't at all what I was looking for. I'd love to see a game that, as Colin McMomb describes it, turns RPG tropes on their heads and takes place in a hugely different fantastic setting.
I would love to see this, even if it was only half as good as the original, it would be great to see more of the setting.
I also would like to see a new story with the same setting. They could have cameos from some of the original cast if they absolutely had to, but no Nameless One.

Well, if you put it this way ....

Probably won't be using Planescape, as mentioned in the article (licensing problems). Hopefully an equally imaginative setting.
“My primary goal would be to help the player tell a story that was evocative of the original Torment without aping it. To be faithful to the odyssey of the Nameless One, and to recognize that it has ended, and that stories of Torment are ongoing,” he said.

This doesn't sound like a true sequel, but a completely new tale in the same universe, which is what most of you seem to want. He certainly seems to agree that the story of the Nameless One is over and done.
Well, since Wizards of the Coast is not likely to license anything related to Planescape (screw them for killing D&D's best setting), all this would amount to is "Let's try and create another RPG that will be as deep and hopefully just as much praised as Torment". Why not? If it works out, great.
