I'm heading to London next week to see a concert of Renegades at Electric Ballroom in Camden. It's just a quick visit (arriving Thu, leaving Fri) as I have to keep my expenses down being a student and all.
So I wondered if anyone could please recommend me:
A) A decent place to have a lunch for a fair price...not a sandwich, I mean a warm and considerably big lunch. We continental Europeans prefer that :)
B} A nice shop to get some souvenirs and gifts.
C) Any game/music/culture related tip is welcomed (a discount store etc.)
I'll be staying near the Victoria Green Station in Kensington. A map or at least an address is more than welcome.

It's probably a good idea, if you've only got a day, to pick one area and concentrate your time there. You can easily waste a day in the bars and markets (great food up there) around Camden Lock, for example. Or head down to the South Bank and eat fresh food from Borough Market, visit the Tate Modern. Or do Chinatown for ace dimsum and grab cheapish tickets for some dodgy matinee in theatreland. Or British Museum and a bite to eat at St. Pancras. Or.... well, it's the biggest city in Europe, you can't really go wrong just sticking a pin in a map and wandering!
If you prefer a more gentile surroundings, the Victoria and Albert museum Cafe in South Ken would be my recommendation for lunch if you stay near Kensington (although Victoria Green Line Bus Station isn't all that close to Kensington really) ... the museum is free - or at least donationware! - the statues fantastic, and the cafe full of good hot food, coffees, chandeliers and a pianist!. Can be a little pricey, but if you guys have the Euro, you won't even notice. About £7-8 for a pie and salad.
Generally, however, I'd think about it the other way - where do you want to be on the Thursday or Friday?

Thanks for your elaborate reply, dougaiton. To be fair, it's kind of hard to decide from such a long list, it all looks pretty inviting.
I want to be mostly out in the open if the weather permits taking lots of photos - visit Hyde Park, take scenery shots near Thames, take on some of the atmosphere...I don't really intend to make a list of places I have to see or anything, I did that few years back..twice. I kind of want to roam freely for a bit.
But it would be actually nice to avoid the usual places crowded with tourists and tricksters and spend the time somewhere quieter among locals...heck, I have enough tourist-shoving in Prague :) Being a philosopher-in-training and admirer of all kinds of art, I'd also welcome a tip for something unique..dodgy matineé doesn't sound half bad.
We aren't "blessed" with euro, but I guess 'round 8 quids for a decent meal at a nice place is acceptable. The Victoria and Albert Museum Café sounds good...glad I'm taking my shirt and tie with me :)

That will be hard to do in London.

Pay a visit to CEX on Rathbone Place which is just off Oxford Street, You may pick up a few game related bargains. Music & Video Exchange might be worth a look too in Notting Hill Gate.

Well, London was the cheapest to get to out of all Renegades gigs so...I can at least try :)

A) There's plenty of food stalls in Camden Market, and loads of picnic benches in the middle if the weather's good.
B) There's usually a souvenir shop nearby most underground stations.
C) If you're into alternative music (metal / goth / industrial), then Resurrection Records is definitely worth checking out - it's on the right hand side as you head up Camden High Street from the underground station. It's actually underneath a clothes shop, so you'll have to head down stairs. It's a couple of shops down from a pub that I can't remember the name of.
Oh, and if you want some great views of the Thames, get off at Putney Bridge, take a stroll through Bishop's Park and take the scenic route behind Craven Cottage (the football stadium).

Shame he can't stay longer, Craven Cottage is a wonderful football ground having been around since 1896. I'm a bit biased obviously being a Fulham fan but Fulham are one of the few clubs to have a 'neutral end' so anyone is welcome. Food is top notch as well.

It is, indeed, a shame, but there's not much I can do about it, sadly. I'm short of time more than I am short of money, I guess. Heck, I may as well have some things to attend to the same day I return home by bus at 5am... :) It won't be my last visit, I'd wager, so I can stack tips for a bit.

CEX is decent for cheap movies and games. If your around the kilburn area then I recommend a place called "spicey basil", good food at a decent price.
I am free Thursday and Friday during the afternoon, so if your up for meeting up then leave a message. I havn't been to any of the museums in ages and I enjoy meeting new people.
Oh, and there is a Scientology building on Tottenham court road, which is good for a bit of a laugh (as well as another CEX and another 2nd hand game shop).

Man, it's been so long since I was last in London. Though I ended up doing very gay things like seeing Les Miserables.
