Dear GOG,

Please arrange for Payment option alternatives to the mono/duopolistic Paypal, Mastercard and Visa for us users. These companies are, as said, *polists and the internet yearns for more diversity. Especially as these companies have shown not to be afraid to use their massive influence at will and at random (see the recent shutdown of wikileaks).

The Holiday Sale is extremely tempting and we would hate to have to refrain from supporting your great company because of moral conflicts. Thanks for your great services and for listening to your users!

EDIT: I don't want to be rude or anything, but man, seriously, there are like 3 months old bugs that still haven't been fixed with the website, but they just keep popping out games.

Please like, assign a guy to fix the website problems. When you're at it, fix the damn installers, it takes like less than 5 minutes. :(

So basically you want an option where you can directly specify your bank account? There aren't many options left to be honest if you leave those out.

It would be nice to have other payment options, but the simple fact is, the current options they allow cover pretty much 100% of the potential GOG customer base, while the alternatives do not (like the one example mentioned) and potentially introduce into the process additional fees and costs, both to the customer and to GOG. You might not like what they have to offer or the companies they represent, but you can't argue with the online shopping convenience their global reach provides, both for us and for GOG.

As for other options, that's exactly the point. I guess there are other options, we just have to find and support them. Just as we found and are supporting GOG.com because they offer a better alternative to Steam and the likes!

As for other options? Pointless. You're just whining because MC/Visa/Paypal aren't playing nice with wikileaks. Guess what, that's business. Wikileaks can always release a physical address that people can send cash to.

Oh right, I forgot about those options but don't you still need to specify a credit card or bank accoutn on those anyway? There were already some threads about VISA/MasterCard boycott in relation to WikiLeaks...
But sure, more payment options are always nice only problem is that GOG generally takes months if not years (or forever) to implement new features. And more payment options have already been suggested since the start of this site.

You do realize that online petitions, while a great outlet for group frustrations, actually never work. We can agree with you all we want, but if none of those alternatives suit GOG's needs, they will never be added to GOG. The fact that alternatives have been suggested numerous times by many GOG users since the site first launched over two years ago and to this day we still have the same three options (though Amex is supposedly coming) speaks volumes about the (un)likelihood of that changing any time soon.

Well, any constructive suggestions on how to organize such a petition? It's not business, it's politics. Hence, I use politics to counter this. But other than that, I've been made aware of the unbalanced amounts of power these three companies actually have, which is much more of a worry to me! And if you would have asked steam users three years ago about starting a DRM-free service, what would their response have been?

As useless as online petitions are, feel free to start one. Use one of the online petition sites and just add a link in the original post. There now you don't clutter up the thread with nothing but "agree" posts.

And you're right, your whining is nothing but politics. But, you're trying to get GOG to make a change in their business based on "your" political views. Perhaps someone should start a petition to only use payment options that refuse to work with wikileaks because their political views state that wikileaks is in the wrong and does nothing but hurt people?

1) 99.99999999999999999999999999% of petitions in the internet fail miserably (note: gross under-estimate).
2) Steam users would still say "Not gonna happen".

Ultimately, I'd wager that 99% of all transactions on the Internet are covered by Paypal, Visa or Mastercard. Why try harder?
