johnki: Now here's what you didn't know about this Kickstarter. It was all carefully planned.

Check the launch date: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/22cans/project-godus?ref=recently_launched

Then check the most recently uncovered layer of Curiosity and when it was uncovered:

Oh for god's sake Molyneux. At least that wasn't the "life-changing" thing at the center. Then I might have had to kill someone.

I wonder why the first tier that you get the game with (a digital download of the game) has been limited? Have other Kickstarters done that?
I can't wait for Activision to kickstart the next Call of Duty game.

;)
This ought to be good.

*grabs popcorn*

They have, though I question the benefits of it's use, at least at the lowest reward tier that gets you the game. It can drive up early pledging due to the limited numbers factor, but once it's sold out I believe it puts off the amount of pledges from, let's call them, impulse backers.

Oh I see, thanks.
Yeah I mainly saw it used with the higher tiers (e.g. limited seats at a premiere, limited places for being featured in the game etc.). The entry tier for getting the game seems very important like you say for those on the fence but willing to give it some support or just to try it out, so I think its better not to limit it personally... Unless its changed you also can't edit a tier when its already had people pledge for it too so it's stuck that way even if it later turns out the approach isnt working out.

Still haven't forgiven him for that stupid save game system in Fable: The Lost Chapters‎ :-P
I feel pity for anyone who gives money to this liar
I have to plead ignorance on not knowing the reasons for some criticisms of Molyneux.

Was it due to him overhyping games and not delivering on those promises? Or did he do something else to displease fans?

I know Fable and Black and White had some disappointments. Has Molyneux spoken out against fans or things like that?

Sorry for all the questions, just curious.
Can I help fund a kickstarter project to prevent this guy making any more games instead?

It's because he's promised so much and delivered so little, and instead of looking back and learning from his mistakes his ego only continues to grow, blundering forward with contemptible arrogance and and over-inflated sense of self worth. Wasting everyone's time with overblown hype and poor products in the process.

Oh, I have nothing against him personally, am not even familiar with his other games outside Fable: TLC, and would not even have heard of his name at all if I didn't read about him in this GOG forum. So I guess I dislike the stupid save game system in Fable: TLC, which has no respect on the gamers' time rather than I dislike the man (not familiar enough or care about him, either way).

spindown: and is surprisingly restrained, with Molyneux claiming, "I won't promise anything, I just want to deliver." Hmm.
This actually makes me think it's a fake Peter Molyneux trolling us...

Godus? Can anyone believe something he named Godus would be anything other than a Black and White remake?

stonebro: Multiplayer-only PC games are about as interesting to me as painful hemorrhoids.

mondo84: Don't knock them until you've tried them.

The hemorrhoids, I mean.

;)
Wow, I feel like so many of my fellow gamers are missing out on so much...

Yeah I thought it was strange how the project is surprisingly non-Molyneux-y, even in the picture of the team on the page you can only see him if you look for his face.

The developers probably have him drugged up to keep him stable, just to make sure the game stays in the real-world :)
Molyneux has always been a dream merchant. That comes through even from this pitch video despite he doesn't promise nearly as much as he usually does with big company funding.

The problem with dream merchants is, that they do put out these fantastic ideas, which may be a bit difficult to realise in an actual product.
What did he specifically promise in the past that he failed to deliver? Was it just general disappointment with games?

Sorry for all the questions, I just don't know much about it.

Look up the history and marketing for the original Fable, he boasted constantly, claiming so many grandiose things and in the end it was an average, short, linear action RPG.

Also, he's openly admitted to lying to the press to keep people interested in his projects.

Even now he's claiming to change the world forever for whoever finishes his asinine Curiosity cube, while offering expensive (up to $50k, no joke) tools to help people finish it.
