Oy vey! It's the Bullfrog move all over again: sell your company out to a big publisher and then jump ship a few years later. Not only that, but he's had a lot more free reign within Lionhead. Bullfrog's games were as good as they were mostly because of restraints put on Molyneux. His glory days are long over. I highly doubt this move is going to change much.

BTT: I remain sceptical until he actually produced something. It doesn't matter in what project he was involved way back with Bullfrog. There are way too many "early computer gaming heroes" nowadays, that can't seem to get shit together.
From Richard Garriott you only hear about in interviews or from his interest with spacetrips. D.W. Bradley seems to be gone for good after Wizards & Warriors / Dungeon Lords, Van Caneghem buried somewhere inside EA .... the list goes on. We'll see if Molyneux will join or not.

He needs a team of people behind him that can take his crazy concepts and nail them down and turn them into something playable. I never really did play much of his Lionhead output, but it didn't seem to me that he had that there.

I ask again... what exactly has he said that people take offense to? I always got the impression that he was a pretty likable--if insane--guy. But as I said, I haven't really been in the loop until recently.

Everything he says is just strange. He likes to think he's the Mesisah of video games, and he's convinced all his ideas in games are the best ever. It's not that people take offence to him, it's just that he's full of shit.

One example is the dog in Fable 2. He said that it would be your companion, and you would care for it like it was a real dog, and then if the dog died, you would have an emotional link so deep you would feel genuinely sad for the dog.

Yeah, right.

Of course, the moment you tell any internet denizen how they're supposed to feel about something, they shut off all emotions.

Its funny, because at one point, he practically was the messiah of video games.

Not so much a messiah as he was the false prophet. None of his games ever, I repeat, none, lived up to his hype. He admitted once that he basically pulled all these crazy ideas out of his ass just to give the games "journalists" something to play with for six months.

Hopefully, a new Kickstarter on a new Theme Park and Hospital: Shut up and take all my money!!

His time at bullfrog went down pretty alright.

No matter how many character flaws the guy has, he was instrumental in bringing Populous along.

He could live the rest of his life a failure and still have my undying love for that accomplishment alone.

I hope his future ventures are successful.
