And breaks away from Lionhead Studios (and M$)

Populous 4 pl0x!!!
hmm this could be a good thing or a terrabad thing, time will tell
He'll never wise up. I was hoping that the key members of the company leaving would get them out from under his wing and let them focus on making good games but no, they've taken on Molyneux again so we get to continue to drown in his verbal poop.

He's done far more harm than good to the industry with his false promises and idiotic criticisms. With all the rubbish that comes out of his mouth, you have to wonder if he ever really did have talent or if he was just floating on the teams skills.

True, but his early Bullfrog days produced some of the most influential and some of the best games ever made.

Unfortunately, he was befallen with the same disease that many a developer/publisher suffers from when they are regularly praised: arrogance.

Like John Romero?
I think Lionhead made some really messy mistakes in the past, splitting ownership of The Movies and Black & White with Activision / EA / and who knows how many other companies. Their games went out of print very fast, and never really entered the 'digital age', prior to Microsoft buying them.

Here's to hope that 22 Cans will do something interesting.
He's still acting on as creative consultant though, at least until the next Fable has been finished. As excited as everyone is to get rid of him, there's a good chance he'll stick around to keep on being a creative consultant or even officially denounce his leaving, if he doesn't get around to creating a new studio.
Well, say what you will about the guy, but he wasn't afraid of new ideas. Whether they worked or not, though, is a different matter...
Yeah, he was the perfect corporate lackey for like a decade but now the indies will love him again. Amusing.

I bet they make cell phone games.
Maybe he's going to do a Tetris remake with philosophical themes.
a) He doesn't own the rights to populous sorry
b) He doesn't own any game rights at all (sorry again)
c) His games away from corporate types have been... mixed... Black and white which was good but ruined by the control scheme and The movies that had a number of never fixed bugs (running out of staff was a very real problem until a fan fixed it with a patch)
Is it just me or does M$ sound a lot less than appl€ these days?

What sort of stuff has he said?

I've been mostly out of the loop for things up until about a year ago.

MS has changed in the last few years increased talks with OSS devs opening of API's etc etc Apple is rapidly becoming the more hated company for it's actions. MS will cross patent Apple demands your patents but won't patent exchange (hence the law suits against them and by them where most phone companies agree to cross lisence as part of RAND Apple is refusing and calling it non-RAND)
