I find it amusing PETA target's Mario because a) it will get them noticed and b) it allows them to terrify children with videos of animals being skinned alive when Skyrim allows you to actually hunt, skin and eat animals as a game mechanic and passes with not even a mention.

Actually, that was PETA's greatest moment. They successfully demonstrated that the Super Meat Boy devs are even dumber than PETA. It's why I decided not to buy Super Meat Boy (well, that and their Zits & Giggles embarrassment.)

1) The colour of Mario's suit is not the same as the head
2) Both the suit and the head have ears on them
3) The head has been cut off

So not only are PETA claiming he kills them to wear their fur as a suit.. but that he also kills them for the fun of it because the one he is holding isn't the one he got the suit from.

The suit may be depicted properly, but it doesn't match what Mario is holding.. which has other implications.

That's a design decision, if they used the same colors for the head as the suit then you'd lose it in Mario's apparel. Plus, if you lose the fur you lose the sense of what the skull is from.

What Xyem is saying is that the suit has a head while the head Mario is holding doesn't have a body. So Mario supposedly kills raccoons to assuage a deranged blood lust in addition to his keen fashion sense.

That's nice, but it's still a design decision. If they did it the literal way the image wouldn't work.

They trolled PETA to get a reaction. When they didn't get the reaction they were hoping for, they lied about it. Made PETA appear to take the high road only by comparison to the low actions of the SMB devs.

I'm not exactly clear on what Team Meat lied about. They straight up said they posted around links on PETA's forums, and I'm pretty sure PETA reacted with the Super Tofu Boy game.

Which, by the way, is just the worst. Bad platforming with "helpful" hints like "Vegetarians make better lovers." Do they, PETA? Do they?

Jesus, you ain't kidding. In the USA, where most adverts on cable average thirty seconds to a minute, PETA and World Wildlife Fund and ASPCA have adverts that run three to five minutes. Fifteen seconds of airtime is thousands of dollars alone on local channels, so you can imagine how much it costs to pay for national broadcast coverage. And all they're comprised of are animals shot with wide-angle lenses in slow motion, set to Sarah McLaughlin or Alannis Morrisette or some shit. It pisses me off more than the ten minute adverts for the "Feed the Children" groups, where they get the kid to sit with his back to a wall in what's so obviously a sound stage and shed a few tears for the camera.

Anyway, I donated my two pints for this quarter, so I'm satisfied that I can say I "gave of myself" if I happen to pass a Salvation Army bellringer and don't have any pocket change. Those ungrateful jerks still owe me a new mailbox.
