Can someone explain to why Pepsi thinks selling their product in small mini cans will make them money? Is it trendy nowadays to get less for your money?

Gas stations don't sell you snacks in tiny packages for a shitload of money because it's trendy... They do it because they know you have no other options, most of the time. It's 4 am and you are in the middle of nowhere. Where else are you going to get some food?

Trendy=no option=profit, it all comes down to the profit margin.

No, what I mean by trendy is "popular". What the people want... Because the Pepsi mini can commercials make it look like they are giving the people what they want. OR maybe it's just a clever way to convince people less for your money is good so it becomes trendy aka popular? OR maybe they are trying to deceive people into thinking less for your money is already trendy aka popular?

companies think people will want what they tell them to want. And some of the time it works, I see that stupid coke commercial every other add. Time will tell.
Heh, mainstream sodas. The last soda I drank was from Whole Foods. :B
It will make them money because they have successfully convinced people that healthy eating is all about moderation.

"Pepsi can be part of a healthy diet if it is consumed in moderation."

Sell smaller amounts of junk for larger amounts of money while convincing people that they are contributing to their health. It's brilliant and cynical.

Pure genius... They are taking advantage of the health obsession going in America right now. More proof, that most people are idiots. One could always use something called discipline to consume less or exercise more but nooo....why acquire some discipline when you can just get less for your money(flushing money down the toilet). ;) I hate stupid people. And if you don't, you will 10 years from now when you go to the super market and see that one tiny slice of cheese will cost you $20.

In Thailand I saw these little treats apparently aimed at kids, which had a small covered cup not bigger than the tip of my thumb, and it came with a tiny plastic spoon much smaller than the tip of my pinkie. I mean, come on? That cup couldn't probably fit two peanuts inside it.

I know they couldn't sell something that here because of safety reasons, like it is very easy for a kid to swallow that tiny plastic spoon. Even then, I'm amazed they'd pack something into such tiny portions.

Then again, it seemed so many other things were cut there too, like these small deodorant cans that lasted like a week.

Well certain brands of juice and soda have been available in small cans over here for a long long time.
I never really got the attraction, but since they're still being sold I have to assume they do make money on those.
U talking about the cans half sized short squat or the skinny ones they shove into packs of 6-8 ? :). they been doing it for eons... i like those.. cant drink a whole can without getting gas hahahahah
A few days ago i read an artical on the site of pepsico, that americans and europe sales of pepsi were going down because people wanted less sugar (and sales increased in japan/africa), so less pepsi is also less sugar.
That's also why pepsi is coming with pepsi next, but isn't "healthier" either.

Buying what you need (even if it is unreasonably priced). For certain purposes (at least used to be kids' lunch boxes) you may not be able to take anything larger, or possibly people who like soda who want to limit themselves. Also, some people probably like the way they look, and having an appealing looking product can play heavily into a person's purchase (yet again, even if it is unreasonably priced).
These have been out for quite a while now. Even Coca-Cola has the 6 ounce cans. Coke's came out around 2006.

I don't know if you have been around teenagers or kids who drink a lot of soda, but if they visit your home and you have 12 ounce cans, you will find 12 half empty cans lying around your house. So, obviously someone else had the same pack of kids, and had a great idea.
Now if only they priced these in relation to the contents. They are usually priced more than the same 12 ounce cans. So, I would rather the kids waste half a can than me waste slightly more per can.
