It seems that you're using an outdated browser. Some things may not work as they should (or don't work at all).
We suggest you upgrade newer and better browser like: Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer or Opera

I've always thought of avatar-less posters as people who are new, somewhat new or generally uninterested in being a known part of the community or even staying a part of it for long. The moment you bother to pick an avatar and figure out how to put it up, you are going for a little individuality and likely intend to stay a while.

For some people the forums are there just to ask a question or two or kill a couple of minutes, not to spend hours on it.
Registering to a forum for posting privileges is a PITA. Setting up an avatar lengthens the process.

True, but I've seen some people here with a couple hundred rep points that didn't have an avatar.
Everyone should have an Avatar. Especially this forum where your avatar is included in a quote. My avatar stand out so much that it's a breeze to see who has quoted my posts in responss or if I'm searching for previous posts I wrote in a thread, I can freely scroll until I hit my picture.

I didn't get my avatar until I was a bit over 300 rep.

Kitchen utensil pic is better...;o)
I have improved your blender.
You are welcome.

I had one pulled from Icewind Dale for a while, but then in a drunken burst of creativity (?) I took the default avatar and tweaked it slightly. I was so proud of myself until the hangover hit.

Lynx users no doubt! ;)

uruk: Yep, the Avatar is from Master of Magic. Did try another Lich picture once. Was to dam big.

Miaghstir: And then you started to every once in a while talk without going into "goblin army ruler" mode, making it even more important to take a good look at the name. Your posts are otherwise, generally, quite... distinct and easily identifiable.
Ah yes, that city did burn to the ground very very nicely. Got a good number of new undead minions as well. I forgot how many goblins we lost but it was worth it, to see that city burn to the ground. I'm sure i have these reports of deaths during that siege some where around here. Anyway. Kept the starter Avatar for a while. Think it was during the one GOG christmas sale. Where i bought might and magic 6 packs. 6 games for the cost of one, why the hell not? I said to my self. Then look at the Avatar's that came with the game and found the one i have now. And have been using it ever since.

I do believe you have a point. ;)

ChickenHero: Also if you are someone who has the default avatar, what's your reasoning for not having an avatar?
Laziness & I don't see the point, frankly. I'm here mostly for information and some discussion, not so much to make new virtual friends.

Also, I prefer people would concentrate on what is being said (discussed), not so much who is saying it.

But who knows, maybe at some point I'll come by an avatar I feel is so special and funny that I just have to use it. Maybe I'll also change my nickname to something more powerful, interesting and funny (albeit I am not sure if the nickname can be changed, maybe not, and for a good reason). Something about Steam or DRM, right?

In online multiplayer games it is a bit different, Many times I wanted my nickname to be meaningful and make a statement, e.g. in TFC I used "SnipersWearDiapers" or something, demonstrating my dislike to those pesky and cowardly snipers who can run only backwards. (Note, I don't use that TFC nick anymore, so if you see someone using it now, it is not me.)

jamyskis: The one I have now is Vulva from a very cool British TV series called "Spaced".

mistermumbles: I tried to like that show, but I just couldn't. I really enjoy Simon Pegg and Nick Frost, yet that show just left me feeling cold. A bit too bizarre for my tastes.

Similarly, I much prefer Edgar Wright's work after that. He certainly did a phenomenal job on Scott Pilgrim.
Really? I was pretty much the opposite - I was excited to see Spaced as I'd heard it was pretty 'out there' but then was dissappointed at how normal it all was
*goes back to watching The Mighty Booth / Noel Fielding's Luxury Comendy and Jam*
My avatar is also from a sitcom - I'd like to make it clear that I don't think 'My Hero' is an awesome show or anything but I like Ardle O'Hanlan from Father Ted and look like him a bit (me Da's from County Wicklow) - the suerhearo costume seems more appropriate for gaming forums than the priest get-up though!

Given how well (not) this site works with Lynx and Links, they do deserve a few hundred rep points for just thinking of trying it more than once. GOG could use a few (heavy) touch-ups in terms of accessibility.

Then again, given the main point of the site (selling computer games, an inherently visual medium), making the site suitable for non-visual browsers might not have a high priority.
