Oh, and I forgot that it is a bit of problem for me too that if I am playing consoles, I'm hogging our only TV only for that. That has always restricted the time I can use for playing my console game backlog, and one of the reasons I prefer playing on PC mostly (on a laptop, even).

Tablet gaming naturally has the same advantage over console gaming, but at this point tablet games are mostly laughable compared to PC and console games, even though that Bladeslinger Android game looks surprisingly good in our tablet (but the gameplay still seems to suck). I got it from some Humble Android Bundle, and when I ran it on my ASUS tablet, I was genuinely surprised how good it looked. By the looks, I could have mistaken it to some a bit older PC or console games.

timppu: The question also extends to console gamers. If you have a PS3, will you also buy XBox360 for the Halo series, or some other XBox-exclusive titles? How about the Nintendo-exclusive titles?

So, there are lots of great exclusive titles on many (closed) systems, also dead ones like Dreamcast. So if one is really worried of missing out on any good games, I guess one always has to buy all the existing gaming consoles, and IPad, and PC, and who knows what else.

Most will not do that, but are fully content with being able to play only certain portion of games. I know there must be some great IPad-exclusive games too, but I am not buying the device for them, sorry.
Indeed, I've been back and forth on whether to buy a 360 for games like Tales of Vesperia, Crackdown and Forza, but ultimately my general dislike of Microsoft as a company and the fact that there are in general not enough games that you can't already get on PS3, Wii U and PC led me to the decision that I wouldn't use up even more money and space with yet another device.
Ive always weighted consoles against my pc and they dont have the 3 P's, they also dont have decent enough
games like total war games or strategy to my liking.

Plugins (or mods)

P.S if your offended by the word Porn, or the fact you say that you dont watch any yourself (assuming your above the legal age in your country) then you are probably in denial and I apologies.
I did buy a cheap PS2 five years ago for Guitar Hero. It's an ideal game if you a few friens over and like rock in general.
Only console game I was eager to play was Mortal Kombat 9, but even that found it's way to the PC.

Frets on Fire does roughly the same thing on PC. As a bonus, you can download user-generated content by the bucketload, although quality is a bit hit-and-miss as you might expect. Oh, and you might need a new keyboard: my Sidewinder X6, for instance, would be useless for that game.

EDIT: Okay, apparently someone launched guitar-controller compatibility software for Frets of Fire while I wasn't looking.

There's ways to watch porn on consoles, at the very least by putting DVDs or BRs into your console. Don't know about using a console's browser to watch porn.

Something's wrong with the pic. Isn't the RROD an Xbox thing and wasn't the lack of games originally a complaint of PS3 users? :P

I had been PC-only gamer until the end of last year. Combo Heavy Rain, Just Dance 3, Red Deam Redemption and Uncharted was very tempting and while discounted PS3 was still overpriced device with overpriced games and full of region locked content, I decided to give myself a treat.

After a bunch of played games, I have to say that PS3 is worth only for two first-party companies, Naughty Dogs and Quantic Dreams. All other good games are available for PC, often with controller support, and the rest isn't so special or controls suck so hard, it's simply better experience to watch it on YouTube.

Xbox's games catalogue is basically FPS, cars or family casual. Its only strength seems to be Kinect-only dancing and fitness games, imo.

Lol, yeah, PC is dying. And it will be dying again when PR department for Playstation 5 starts doing its job. The current console generation, mainly Sony, has offered some very unique and creative games however let be realistic. Just becase Microsoft doesn't subsidize PC-exclusive games doesn't mean the platform is dead. It probably won't be a leading platform anytime soon yet it doesn't create artificial barriers like console makers do and has backward compatibility.

If you're tempted by some titles, I would recommend to buy a second-hand console and second-hand copies of these games, play it and sell it. At least, I made the purchase decision (first-hand - my biggest mistake :P) with intention to sell it after I am done with Beyond. There is no reason to keep away from them if there is an option to buy and sell them with an acceptable loss.

Pc only for me and the way microsoft handled the xboxone i dont feel very hopefull for its future even though they backtracked on almost all the things the public hated who is to say they wont sneak them in at a later date when you have your consoles.
PC gaming isn't going anywhere. Mac gaming isn't either.

Personally, I plan to enjoy games on my Mac in OS X along with my library of the best games for the PS2. Well, they are the best games on PS2 for me personally that is.

After the PS4 launches at some point the prices on the PS3 games and the PS3 itself will tank at which point I will swoop in and scoop up the deals and build a library of the best PS3 games just like I did with the PS2, all the while saving tons of money but still playing the finest titles - just later than everybody else.

Years from now, when the PS 5 launches, after a little bit I will get a PS 4 and I will score the deals and build a library of the best, etc. and so it goes.

All during this time, there will be no shortage of good games to play on my Mac.

I am looking forward to Red Dead Redemption on the PS3 when I get to it who knows when. ;-)

I think the consoles are ridiculing each other there.

I've been a pc-only gamer since the 80s. I started on the pc and still prefer it over anything else.

PC gaming has been announced dead/dying for years, however it's alive and kicking more than ever.
The indie genre has been steadily growing for years. Now that a lot of indie games are available on Steam and GOG.com indie developers reach more gamers than ever before. Something that has resulted in game magazines and websites to pay more attention to indie games.
Kickstarter gives developers an alternative source of funding which comes with complete freedom as far as development choices go. It has resulted in the revival of some old franchises.
Modding is very popular on the pc. Lots and lots of games have patches for small changes, mods for extended gameplay and even total conversions. Not to mention that there's some great talent in the mod community.

Having said that, over the years there occassionally has been a game which made me think wether or not I should buy a console. 'The last of us' being the latest. I have to say the only console I have ever considered was a PS (2 and 3).
Now that the PS4 is announced, I'm considering buying a PS3. I'm assuming that once the PS4 is actually available in stores, the PS3 will be priced down.

As far as platform goes, the pc with it's mouse and keyboard combo will always be my favorite.

zer00o: We all know that PC gaming is great, yet, seeing what happened with red dead redemption and now gta 5, is there a game good enough that you would buy a console to play?
I would buy a console 15 years after its debut, at least. Right now, valuable candidates are the MegaDrive (Castlevania - Bloodlines), the SNES (Super Ghouls'n Ghosts), the PS2 (God of War, ICO), the Wii (Lost in Shadow), whatever. I know them because I have played them through emulation already. But I want the damn real thing, at a certain point in time.

P.S.PC gaming isn't just superior, it's the gaming master race. Bear this clearly in your mind, you filthy consoley kiddies :-P

I think that is funny but you know something? I have no idea what "the cake is a lie" means? Judging by my list and current pace it may be a couple more years before i find out too. lol

zer00o: just wanna know how you guys feel about the apparent "death of PC gaming".
Huh? Didn't that already occur when Halo 1 didn't come out on PC. Apparently not.

But no, there is no game that would convince me to spend 100-s of $ for a console. I have my PC anyway, mostly as a work tool and I can play on it too. So I rather invest my money in games than in additional redundant hardware.
