we all know that PC gaming is great, yet, seeing what happened with red dead redemption and now gta 5, is there a game good enough that you would buy a console to play?

i was going to buy a current gen console myself so i could play these games a swell as the last of us,metal gear etc.
however, when i saw the trailers for cyberpunk and the Witcher 3, i figured I'll manage without a console.

just wanna know how you guys feel about the apparent "death of PC gaming".

GTA 5 *WILL* come to PC - delayed 6-12 months though
PC gaming has been dying for years apparently... not concerned.
I have a wii u and 3DS to play Nintendo and Atlus games
All the hype from The Last of Us was the first time I ever considered buying a console. However, I'm more likely to encourage a friend to buy it (maybe even throw in a few dollars?) and play it on that system.
Has there ever been a time when PC gaming wasn't dying? I mean, I've been hearing that from people and the media since I first got into gaming.

Anyway, I picked up a PS3 recently because I wanted a BluRay player and my options here were limited and overpriced. Don't have any games for it, but I'll probably grab a couple if I travel to the US. Very unlikely it'll replace the PC as my go to platform for gaming, simply because the games I most enjoy are firmly rooted on the PC, and I just simply prefer keyboard and mouse to controllers.
(Waiting for Crosmando....)

1 - PC gaming is booming at the moment. There are exclusive titles for PC and the different consoles, it do not mean much either way. There will always be platform exclusive titles. There will be a dip in the PC market again now that the new consoles comes out, but it will not mean the death of PC gaming. The indie scene and the DD price points is more than enough to keep PC gaming alive. I have no problems with PC titles getting delayed as long as it means they are getting optimised (....Rockstar...).

2 - Quite a lot of PC gamers do already have a console of some sort. There are not that many PC only gamers. I do have a feeling the proportion here on gog is a little bit different, but it is more down to those who do not like DRM and closed systems, more than a dislike towards consoles as a gaming platform.

3 - I will most likely get a PS4 at some point, I have the the 3 others. I will probably not get XBox One.
Since Steam, UPlay, Origin et al. I've gone mainly console anyway, as it's less hassle. I used to be exclusively a PC gamer, but now I game on PC only for indies and certain games where the quality really is markedly different.

Uh, Red Dead Redemption still hasn't arrived on PC. Kinda sets the precedent for GTA V.

Which sucks because Red Dead Redemption is easily one of my favorite games of all time.
PC gaming isn't dead, and my feeling towards it has nothing to do with my attitude towards consoles.

Consoles for me only started to get interesting with the Wii, because of the wiimote. When the choice is between a controller and keyboard+mouse, I prefer keyboard+mouse (except when the game has clearly been designed for a controller), but I think it's fun to occasionally participate in a game where you interact in ways you normally wouldn't during normal gaming.

I didn't buy my Wii, I got it as a wedding present, but I'm happy that I got it, and I did buy an Xbox 360 last year, because I felt that the Kinect was the next step up from the wiimote.

I was asking myself this same question recently.

My last console was a PS2 and i only play PC games nowadays.

I really cant think of any game that i would buy a console for. All the games that i want to play, i can buy for the PC.

I have over 500+ games on Steam, 100+ games on GamersGate, 50+ games on Amazon and 50+ games on GOG. Between these sites, i can buy just about any game that i want to play.

When i upgrade to a new computer in 5 years, all these games will come with me. PC gaming is the ultimate in backwards compatibility.

PC gaming is much cheaper than console. I bought Fallout New Vegas Ultimate for $5 on Steam and last month i picked up Dungeon Siege Complete Pack (DS1, DS2, DS3 + DLC expansion) for $5. There is no way you can find deals like that on console.

Red Dead was new IP
GTA started on the PC - and EVERY iteration of it so far has been released on PC thus far - GTA V will be no different

Nope
No. After the Xbone fiasco, the last thing I'd do is support a bunch of greedy corporate asshats that want to drive the industry into the ground. Consoles are and will forever be a closed, DRM laden platform. No thanks.

No, actually, Red Dead Redemption was a sequel to Red Dead Revolver for the original Xbox and PS2.

Hope you're right but it wouldn't matter for me anyway since I don't use Steam. If my 360's disc drive hadn't crapped out I'd just get it for that.

Nope. Console playing lately became more about money and less playing and I am not gonna support that.
