So as long as you count all the microtransactions from facebook games, and only put it up against one console at a time, then yes PC does look like its on top.
EDIT:
This makes me wonder where how Apple's iPhones, iPods, and iPads come in. With this sort of spin, they might even top PC. I kind of doubt it, but you never know.

Logan Decker said it best,
"As long as people use PCs, there will be PC gaming."
(slight paraphrase, you get the point)

PC gaming ALWAYS gets a huge popularity boost around the end of the current consoles' lifecycles. PC gaming was dying in 2008. That's when all of the big chain stores eliminated their PC games sections.

Can't make a comeback, if it wasn't gone.
Also the same sources claiming PC gaming to be dying all those years, claim Heavy Metal to be dead since at least 15 years if not longer.

If I understand correctly from the article, the only thing that's making a comeback is that the major publishers and retail stores are realizing that the PC gaming is still a commercially viable market.
Since games started appearing on both PCs and consoles, the PC gaming market has got a lot smaller. It's still not commercially dead yet until the major players stop making games for PCs.
At least, we have a reasonably decent indie gaming scene on the PC if all else fails.

This reminds me of the question a game magazine made when the first rumors about the first xbox came out: "Will this be the death of pc gaming?"
