ReynardFox: Wha? I have one of those, that's the one I was referring to above as 'special edition', they're for sale everywhere here and they cannot work on a PC without a standard receiver. The USB charger they come with does not connect them to the PC at all, it only powers the controller.
te_lanus: Mine works currently with the charger (since I'm charging the battery pack, thus currently a wired controller). I had a small problem when I used AA batteries (then put them back in my old controller) that Windows didn't see it. But taking the USB cable and connecting to windows, made it to work, Windows said it found new hardware and that the drivers was installed.
Here it's one of the more expensive controllers.
It's expensive here too, I've used three of them, each one on a different box and they simply do not work under Windows, they will pop up that the charger kit is installed and ready to use under win 7 but the controller will only activate and play on an Xbox.
Are you sure it isn't picking up your old receiver? I am really confused as being able to get this controller to work under windows with out one contradicts everything I've read about it since it was released.
