I'm a little bit tempted by the current Steam deal on Payday: The Heist, but I've never been able to make my mind up about getting it.

Firstly, any opinions on the game?

Secondly, what is the team AI like? If I get the game then sure I'll play it online, but I like having the option to play single-player with bots. L4D for example, I know I can play single-player with bots as they are capable of getting through on Easy and Normal, so it works, but yes the game is better with human players. How does Payday compare on this front? I've read that there have been various AI improvements over time with game updates but how good (or how bad) are the bots exactly? Can the game be played through with them and what difficulty settings are they capable on (if any)?

Hi :)

My advice is get it if your friends are getting it and play with them.

You generally get intellegent-ish people that join publicly, but its great to have mumble/ventrilo happening with friends to execute a bank heist etc.

Enemy Ai is pretty normal, but the game (on normal) is actually really really hard from level 2 onwards!!!

It's a bit of fun, the first level is great and the music is cool.

Its not seamless when people join/dc in the middle of the game, it pauses the game out of memory.

It's value for money IF and only IF your friends play it with you at the same time.
It's an ok but probably not addictive experience if you're solo/pubbing

Best of luck :)
I hadn't heard about this game before reading this thread but the title really had me intrigued - I love the whole process of gathering information, making a plan and then execute it. I still miss playing "They Stole a Million" on the old C64, even if it was a bit short and not that hard to beat. According to the comments above this game might not be so great, but perhaps anyone know of similar, yet better games?

Sorry for hi-jacking / going off topic here.. =/
It's got an interesting idea, but it ends up being ... Well ... Left 4 dead with cops and security agencies instead of zombies. It's fun for a bit, but I really think this good idea was not really executed that well.
It's a pretty good game. If you like L4D there's no reason not to enjoy this one. I have never played with bots, so i can't comment on it, but multiplayer is really fun. And, c'mon man, it's just 5 dollars. At that price, it's a steal.
I played it for about half an hour and thought that it sucked really badly.
So whether my half an hour of an experience if of any relevance to you is... up to you.

Your decision was a good decision. I've played with my friend for more than that and I've been bored to tears, whereas he kept saying "There has to be something good about this game!" Now I want my three hours back.
Take a friend and go coop game. You will like it.
Orcs Must Die 2.
Never played the original but had a blast playing this with my brother.
Think Left 4 dead, but with another theme. Also, make it more challenging. That is Payday: The Heist. I think it is a better game than Left 4 Dead, and quite enjoy playing it, but don't expect to have a great time with it if you don't know anyone else who has it. Playing with pickup groups is painful, and playing solo is only so-so, but with friends it is great fun.
I liked it and for $5 its worth it, dont pay more than that.

You must play thru the levels in solo mode with bots first in order to know what to do in online games, otherwise its too confusing.

I liked it better than Left 4 Dead because the enemy AI is really good.

Imagine the movie HEAT and Point Break during the robbery scenes and how intense it was and PayDay is just like that. Its pretty intense and fun.
We bought a 4 pack and played 4 player co-op for a while. It's alright but...yeah, it's Left 4 Dead with cops and creepy masks. To make matters worse, it's really, really tedious, and really difficult to boot because it has L4D levels of zerging, except they all have guns on top of being a couple thousand strong.

Though I want to reiterate. There's no more info gathering or careful planning than L4D.

I wouldn't say it's horrible, it's just mediocre. Very very mediocre. I got my bank-robbing thrills from the first Kane and Lynch.
How can I put this nicely...It's like Left4Dead, minus the actual 'fun parts' plus boring missions.
Only played it with bots myself, and have enjoyed it. It's more difficult with the bots as opposed to with others as bots cannot carry team perks nor can they complete objectives.

Further, it's got one of the best soundtracks going. For $4.99, it's well worth it if you're tempted by that sort of game. The DLC though, strikes me as a little overpriced.
