Hello, this is my first post.
I tried finding the answer to my question through the search function, it didnt work at all.
I wanted to ask if its necessary to download and install patches for games bought on GOG.com. Or are they already updated to the newest version ?
Thanks in advance

They are usually patched to the latest version (there may be one or two exceptions, but I couldn't tell which games). It used to be on the game pages, but nowadays they don't put it up there for some reason.
Also, patching GOG releases would be quite tricky, as they use modified exe files, thus patches possibly wouldn't recognize them (I know this was the case with Heroes of Might and Magic 2; fortunately, they applied the patch later).
Like DrIstvaan said, they're generally already are the latest versions. I certainly wouldn't recommend you try patching the games anyway. You'll just be adding back in the DRM making it completely unplayable.
GoG sells the game with the latest official patch installed. So if you want an unofficial patch (which is actually closer to a mod, generally) you need to install it yourself. Otherwise, you are shiny.
Heh I can't help but recall the post a week or so back lamenting the lack of "this has been patched to the latest official version" info that used to be on the game cards
Alright, thanks guys. Here we go Arcanum...

There is at least one game which has a patch from the community installed where people were raging. Sadly I don't recall the name of it. I don't know if they use still that version or the latest official one now.

Warlords Battlecry III uses modified version of the unofficial patch but so do other DD vendors as without it the game is broken. I'm sure there are other games where GOG uses community fixes to make game work or fix bugs.
