Thought, game devs and publishers should be more forward thinking nowadays. I was wrong..
Personally after this cheap crap they won't see any money from me again.

P.S. Just want to spread the news about how "awesome" is Daedalic
The Whispered World has just recently disappeared from GOG so I guess we can expect the same treatment: on 6th of May the special edition will appear, it will cost twice as much (19.99$ while it was already 9.99$) but previous owners will be entitled to make this upgrade for 5$ only! How splendid! You should be ashamed, Daedalic...

I've already said something about it here: http://www.gog.com/forum/general/the_what_did_just_update_thread/post2866

I don't get it so what DOES the special edition actually do? Cause the director's cut of Deus Ex had more going on...
Well, is it a "patch", or is it bonus content?

From what I'm seeing, the update seems to add inconsequential bonus content, and achievements. Charging for such content is not particularly customer-friendly considering that many other publishers add it for free. But you made it sound as if customers had to pay for a bug-fix, which does not seem to be the case?
Change in package : I get it, change in price : why not, but how does the content change ? Are we talking about a full-fledged DLC presented differently, a rework, or a big patch (aka bug fixes :/ ) ?

AFAIK bug fixes plus "Exclusive audio comment featuring 'Poki' and Marco Hüllen, the game's writers" and some new achievements... and that's for 5 bucks for limited time only (three months)

Oh boy, oh boy, aren't you excited to get? It's just splendid, isn't it?

sarcasm mode off...
A shame as I really enjoy their games, that they have decide to become complete arses towards their customers.

At least I only had three of their games left to get here. I can get the cheep two, and if they pull everything well then they miss out on my money for 1954 Alcatraz, there loss I guess.

The game has a lot of bugs that are not fixed - for example is some conversations when you choose one option your character is saying something else, namely an option that was one line below of your choice. The other character, however, gives an answer to the question you've originally chosen. It's not game breaking but annoying. It's been a while when I played this game but AFAIK it hasn't been fixed (more serious bugs were reported too!) and now it appears that only special edition will be bug free so yeah, you'll have to pay to get a patch.

1954 alcatraz was already very quickly on sale on steam after the release, same can be said about blackguards, they are selling themselve out with this, not to mention by putting games in bundles.
so maybe that's why they are seeking to get money in other ways now.

Thanks already pre ordered my copy -_-

But can people who already have the copy, keep it or not? Because of the limited time only thing....

I think (but that's just my assumption) that you have three months to upgrade your copy for 5$. After that time you will have to pay the full price to get the special edition but I THINK you will still have your inferior version. But you never know, they made so many bad moves already that I don't trust them at all.

It should have bug fixes + commentary and steam achievements / cards

Well, current version is unplayable for lots of users. In some cases you have to write to devs, they'll send savefiles and only after that you can actually complete the game.
In "new" version you receive basic steam functionality (cards, achievements), commentary + necessary bug fixes. That's all.
To this I can only say FU Daedalic... Keep up these stunts and I won't buy anymore games from you.

Sadly, it's not their first nor second bad move... off the top of my head:
- Enda & Harvey split + corresponding price increase
- German language
- blaming retail publisher for everything which was criticized and then doing exactly the same things for self-published games

What's up with you guys?!

For me they've just crossed the line with this... as I wrote in "what did just update" thread I even removed their games from my wishlist ;)
