Previous to this current (Winter) sale, any games I owned would show as "owned" so I could avoid tagging them and attempting to go through with a purchase which would inevitably only allow me to "gift" the item. Since I have over 600 games in my primary GoG account, knowing which ones I can still purchase is of enormous benefit.

Is this a bug (my side/GoG's side) or has that information retrieval been disabled due to server overload?

Hi,

same here. Although.... No, not 600 games yet ;-)
I have to find out, which game I already own and then klick it away.
It is for everyone. It is to save server load from gog side, so they have turned the feature off for now.

Except that they haven't. Some of the games I own show up as owned. It's only some of them however. Lots of other games I own do not. So it is a bug, and not intentional.
It seems that the "owned" function works again, at least for me.

On a different note, some games appear multiple times in the best selling list. For instance, Fahrenheit (Indigo Prophecy) seems to be simultaneously #31 and #97 on the best selling list. I saw Moonbase Commander in the list twice as well, and there are probably more.

This happens semi-rarely when the script tries to pull the next games to display on reaching the end of the page and has a huge delay. So instead of showing "pages" 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 it will end up showing 1, 2, 3, 4, 2, 5. A forced refresh usually fixes it.

That can't be exactly what happens. I don't doubt it's something like that, but if it was indeed a page at a time, the game should appear between the same games in both cases, which it doesn't.

True, since one different game could be explained (first/last of page) but not both. I'd say poke the blues about it, even though it should be a low priority thing.

Nah, it's purely cosmetic. If some games were missing entirely it would be another issue (although much harder to spot), but I assume they have enough work on their hands right now without me adding to the pile with something as trivial as that.

If I see it again once the sale is over, I can report it to them.
Yeah, I have no games missing, they just don't show as "owned" until checkout. Busy man, I like to buy and run :)
