While the news of a sequel is good news... the fact that they were entirely bought out is not, because after Syndicate's poor sales performance, you would think EA would absorb the studio and all its properties to try to cut costs...

... and if they do, what happens to Overkill?

Maybe I'm being too pessimistic, but I've seen it happen time and time again over the years. I wish Overkill the best, really. I'm just scared for them.

It's great that they enhanced the first game for free and improved it but PayDay is literally built around multiplayer, if you play with 3-4 people, only and ONLY then it's fun

I wish them the best though, they seem like a competent studio

They ARE a competent studio. They listen to the fans, they fix bugs as they show up, and they genuinely CARE about their product.

Hence the worry. They're the first not-quite-indie dev team that I've really taken a shine to in years.

If I've understood things right, the studio was started by former GRIN people, so they were hardly new to the market.
And yes, they are competent (and I'm not saying that just because I know one of the people who works there). Payday might have been heavily inspired by Left 4 dead, but I actually thought it was better.

Kind of random, but oh well.

Starbreeze is working on 3 projects so they must have adequate funding from somewhere.
