The early bird developer version of the $99 open source gaming console, known as OUYA has shipped. The consumer version, for those who supported the Kickstarter, is expected to ship in March of 2013. i've found no word of when the rest of us can get one.

I don't really believe in OUYA...

I have read what they promised, but time will tell how much of that they can keep.

It will be interesting to watch how this shakes up the industry.

I'm on the fence about it, but I'll definitely get one if I see a Humble OUYA bundle happening..

I already have an open platform I game on, and it can do a lot more. I'm not excited because I am not sure why I would need or want a weaker additional machine with weird pricing model ideas behind it.

Good to see, that they managed to handle the project better than Pebble.

The probability of it having any significant impact still seems relatively low. I'm still trying to figure out who the actual target audience is supposed to be. Console gamers won't care as practically none of the big games would show up on it. As StingingVelvet said, PC users will care even less since they're already using a very open platform without having to deal with the ridiculous hardware limitations that little box has. Lastly mobile gamers won't care because it defeats the whole purpose of the way they play by having to be tethered to an actual TV/monitor.

I really think it was just a fluke that the project got as much 'funding' as it did all on hype alone. I for one can't wait to see it fail spectacularly.

They bolted a fan on top of the Tegra 3 SoC, but didn't add any vents to the external case... (as far as I can tell)

Dude, you already have a thing that does all those things, it's called a computer. I'd be very careful if I we're you, this thing looks like it was made to play Facebook games on your TV...

Well like you can already do with all the others Android based devices. Personally I only got one because I plan to use it as a standalone MAME device. It's true that has a home console I have some huge doubt we will see that many games on it that are not straight Android ports. (Well if it allow me to play Rayden Legacy with a competent joystick that's an added bonus :) )

I would have been interested, but now i have an android tablet which has loads of apps/games and is portable too.

I was offended by their "limited edition color" offer (because, you know, if they could have made the console on 900k, they could have offered at least 10 color options at no additional charge with 9M) and withdrew my pledge. I will buy two OUYAs from the second production run.
