I have to say, I would bite on this if it's not ad-plagued. Heck, even just being able to play purchased Android apps would be fine by me.

In fact, I see this as a perfect game console for a casual users who just game in spurts.
I'd recommand any intersting in Ouya reading those, as well as of course the Kickstarter Page itself:

I don't like console gaming. The primary method of control being a gamepad always results in the games that are twitcher hack-and-slash or shooters, games that are not complex or intelligent, and rely exclusively on the player being able to push buttons the fastest to win.

Definition of casual, really.
Seems like a great idea, but honestly how much time do we have to play games?

PC games
Console games
Tablet/mobile games

I'm all for new technologies and good-natured competition, but I feel like the market is going to start cannibalizing itself. I'd guess PC gaming will reign supreme, but mobile is definitely here to stay as well.

See, I disagree. I find any game that uses what is an obviously co-opted keyboard as a controller is by definition counterintuitive due the sheer number of unused buttons, the requirement to memorize key placement and shortcut keys, etc.

The only anomaly I have found are PC games that are almost entirely mouse driven, with optional keyboard shortcuts, which of course could be translated to a console easily.

A PC keyboard is not meant for gaming, a controller is.
Fantastic, another Android-based device designed to run crapware and micro-payments on-line services marketed as "games" for the dumbest of us. I'm so excited I'm shitting myself right now....
Meh. Not interested. I wouldn't pay even a dollar for a console that only runs free to play games.
It'll be fine if the people pledging only expect indie games, but they are console gamers which means they will be expecting Triple-A games, and where is the assurance any of the big publishers will even put any of their games on this system, seeing as it's supposed to be an open-platform and all the big publishers are pro-closed platforms.

This could fail spectacularly.
Oh, and FYI:

Free and casual games are just a bunch of shit with no future at all.
Would be good as an emulator box, provided the pack-in controller is tight. They also claim it is easily hackable, which is definitely the right way to go. At $99 and good modding, I think it would be a worthy addition under the TV, especially for the nutcases like me who are extremely offended by the closed, publisher-guided experience of the 7th generation consoles. After watching mainstream consoles go super anti-consumer over these last 3 years, I strongly welcome some new competition. I do remain skeptcial, however, and won't be helping to kickstart this thing. I have to see it released before I buy.

Yes, input method is clearly to blame. I'm sure that replacing gamepads with mouses and keyboards would increase demand for intelligent and comlplex games on the market, and that the problem doesn't lie in the actual demand, but in the control method used.

Actually, on several occasions have I bound mouse and keyboard controls of an old game to gamepad so I can play comfortably, and all those games were suddenly so lacking in content!

Not sure if serious...
Ouya's pretty much a scam. Explain to me how you produce 40000+ consoles with a budget of $5million, market and distribute them.

"Free to play" is also simply a lie. Scroll down far enough on the page and you'll find it just means "game has a demo". Even so, producing a console that relies on an F2P model is just simply asinine and few developers are going to buy into that.

And I've looked very hard on the Kickstarter page but I can't actually find an Ouya anywhere. I can find some mockups and reference to "a prototype" but I can't find an Ouya. I'm not investing in something I can't see the prototype for.

So Ouya might be real, and it might potentially be something cool. But the Kickstarter is a scam and the forced business model is also a scam. I'd advise against pledging, but I can definitely see why someone might want to buy one later. I just don't think I will.

So ignorant. Push buttons the fastest - that is like 99% of games, no matter what platform. Btw the best and most hardcore pc game can be played on a console too (I'm talking Deus Ex on ps2).

Check it again, they have videos of the console in action, new pics of the updated design as well as the announcement that they have signed OnLive on as a launch partner, which brings pretty much every AAA pc game to the console right off the bat. This is absolutely not a scam in the slightest.
