SimonG: Valve will not be happy. This does hurt them and IIRC it was the first time something like this happened.
I repeat my question : Why didn't Valve check the quality of the game before putting it in the store ?

There is some fault on Valve's part. But interviews show, that creators of this game deliberately wanted to "cash out" their unfinished turd and be gone.

keeveek: If Valve wanted to, they could posses their asses for eternity.
The devs had a headstart. They're probably almost by the hills already.

Do they check any game? As far as we know, they just say "is it ready?" Because you don't lie to valve and don't piss off valve. So far the system works. It is probably better for Valve to do it this way, then to do some testing.

Whoever those people are, they won't get a second chance on Steam with another title very fast. I don't think Valve will cancel the current contract, but it will be very weary at further.

In Russia you have to see that on a regulars basis. Scammy PR, scammy releases, open post-mortems "we made this shit out of other games' assets, faked the screenshots, and it made money, so we did well".

Who wouldn't trust the producer of Big Rigs? I know I would!
I'm not a business expert, but yes, in business relations, there is a higher standard. You should carefully examine your business partners before you come into agreement with them - you shouldn't accept new partners / clients / etc recklessly.

BUT it doesn't mean if you take "some" blame for accepting unthrustworthy partner that you can't sue them and burn them to the ground :P Especially when that partner didn't "scam" you, but your customers. And did that on purpose.

The thing is, Valve already had a healthy relationship with Hammerpoint by way of War Inc., the game which War Z is based off of. It's an F2P game on Steam and seems to be doing okay. This is part of why I'm so fascinated with this story, the company was in good standing and essentially just pissed it away for a quick buck. I'm curious to see what happens to War Inc.

Novotnus: You may enjoy reading some ancient history then, my friend.

dirtyharry50: Wow! Limbo of the Lost must be one hell of a game with so many great games in it, visuals, puzzles and all.
Well, it looks nice... apart from the stuff that the devs of LotL made, because that looks absolutely terrifyingly horrendous.
Puzzles are even worse.

Oh, even better. If steam had an existing relationship with that dev/pub , they could assume that their next product will not be made only to cash out and be gone :P

War Inc is not a "good" game....

It originally had a decent idea and on paper looked good, but this developer is crap.

That's not surprising, but I didn't say it was a good game. I said that Hammerpoint was in good standing with Steam by having released a product that wasn't a scam. I've never even looked at it before this all happened.

True, I misread your message...not surprisingly. But true, the developer already had an in with valve so they probably did not even think twice. I have a feeling this fiasco will change some things regarding what gets on the steam platform.
It just keeps getting better.

If you ask the company for a refund now they claim they have no idea how they got your payment, and thus can't give a refund.
