Hi all

There is an old game i like called 'Galactic assault, prisoner of power'. Are there any expansions etc? Also i would love to know of any other games that use the similar basic game format?

There is another game i know of, that uses a similar format, but forget the name? The basic story is that some evil alien race enslaved two other alien races, one fairly primitive, one more advanced. They forced the more advanced race to destroy the Human space fleet but missed out on the human troop transports who landed on the planet. You start off fighting the primitive guys, their most lethal unit being parachuting grenadiers . Then the more advanced guys most devastating unit will be the small round bombs with wings. Finally the evil enslaving race you fight last of all, their most lethal unit would be the tank with the large area attack . Is that enough info to remember the game?
As far as I know there are no expansion packs for Galactic Assault: Prisoner of Power. For similar games, see Wargaming.net's Massive Assault series (demos are available)

Thanks for the reply

I suppose what i am really after for galactic assault are new skirmish maps or a way to make maps? Perhaps also tweak the AI not to be so bold and waste its resources taking on anti air units??
Galactic Assault sadly never received a lot of attention after its release, by anyone. Last time anyone posted on its official English forum was in 2010, and that was almost a year after its previous last post, so the game is pretty much abandoned and forgotten.
It is a nice game though.

But do check out Massive Assault & Battle Isle (both mentioned above) if you want more of a similar thing.

Someone made a map pack here and explained how he did it:

And according to this thread it's easy to modify a lot of things in the game.
Thanks for the replys, i will check out those links and games.

Meanwhile i remembered the name of that other similar game - Liberation day!

Well it is not all that similar, but it has the fantastic concept of 'reaction fire/movement'.

In my opinion, 'reaction fire/movement' is a brilliant concept for any turn based game and i cannot understand why it is not more widely used??

The first game I ever saw reaction fire/movement was a game called "Age of Rifles" by Strategic Simulations Inc. I still have the disk in perfect condition but it won't run on modern computers. I would buy it from GOG if they had it, but i suppose it is too obscure like Liberation Day.
