I know this has nothing to do with GOG but it is kind of game related and I respect the opinions of you folks so here it is. I'm playing KOTOR 2 and I can't get over that be it in a movie or a game the Sith are all so ugly and or horribly disfigured. It's almost like they can't become Sith until they've had multiple limbs hacked off, eyes removed, been dumped in lava, sprayed with acid, dried up, skinned, deep fried, minced, etc etc etc. I understand that as tradition goes the bad guy needs to be ugly but in all the movies and games from this saga they couldn't give us ONE SITH that had all of his face or skin!? It makes me wonder if Lucas Arts (Disney) is just out to convince the world that good looking people are good and ugly people (worse yet disfigured people) are the root of all evil.
Just the artistic direction of most Extended Universe artists/authors I suppose. Though Luke did lose a hand himself and get some scars (after Hamill's accident anyhow), and the whole point of the original saga was the redemption of Anakin (ignoring Episode IV where it was obvious Lucas had no clear long-term ideas for the story). I also like that Anakin/Darth Vader lost his right arm at least 4 times. That's gotta be a record.

I don't know, why are Jedi such morally absolute prudes :P

Jedi says there is no passion there is serenity yet aren't they passionate about the Light Side of the Force.

And isn't denouncing love a fear in itself?

Easiest way to explain it is that the dark side of the force tampers with forces that isn't natural so you pay the price when using it, it disfigures your body which I take it as a symbol of how your soul looks like due to the evil you spread or something like that. :P

They just have different philosophy about life. While they're passionate about their own beliefs it's not what they mean with "there's no passion", it's about being unselfish and helping the weak. They want harmony and balance, therefore restoring the weak to 'middle class' status and killing Siths because they reached way above 'upper class'. As for the absolute part is to avoid distracting influence, that goes for both the light and the dark side

I forgot about the love part. In a way you're right but I think it's to avoid distraction, Yoda mentions in the older movies that a truly great Jedi has complete focus on his current mission, you won't have that with love in your life or any high emotions like passion, anger, excitement.

I don't know I just don't like Jedi as they are in the Old Repuclic (Pre Sidious' Empire) they rub me the wrong way, I often think Luke Skywalker's Jedi Order is better than the Old.

I also often wonder how do Sith live there lives, are they so evil they kill random people out of boredom?
Ive got a question for you Kris Kringle, what could consume a terminator?

They are nearly unbeatable in melee combat and have no balls. What could honestly give them a run for their money?

I think about all this and I come to the conclusion that Jon Irenicus and Sarevok could defeat a terminator. After having a pool party in the temple of bhaal, Sarevok cuts the cake and irenicus casts a chromatic orb at the terminator, killing it effectively.

And you can say that Ender Sai sent you, this one's on the house.

I like both Jedi periods, they represent two different times. The Old Republic had their society built on tradition so it's easy to see how they wanted to keep that.

As for Sith and their life, I think it's a pretty weak life they lead. All you do is survive and try to gain power because you're afraid of having weaknesses (their ultimate goal is in their philosophy, basically becoming a god through the force).

Sith always reminded me of the Spartans.
It's because they're evil. Everyone knows that bad people are ugly and vice versa.
Love? That is so like pulling a Bindo!
Umm, from what I remember, Exar Kun was in no way mutilated, mauled, or injured other than his eventual death in the SWEU. He is actually one of my favourite Sith from the Expanded Universe. :)
I think their explanation, as someone mentioned earlier, is that the dark side disfigures the person.

In the KOTOR games, if you give in to the dark side, your character becomes increasingly more pale and disfigured but gains awesome destructive power.

Having said that, I've never felt so horrible as when I was playing an evil character in KOTOR1. Having people plead for mercy then torturing them just because I can was pretty awful.
Even if nothing happened to the Sith Lord, the dark power of the force would have eaten away at their complexion, body, skin and sorts. It would take even more considerable dark power to hide that like what Sidious is good at doing. Eventually when all the good Jedi would die and go to Force heaven to receive Force enlightenment or something like that, Sith Lords like good old Palpy would end up like this, quoted from Wookiepedia:

Emperor Palpatine's spirit was dragged into the depths of the Force, where every deceased Jedi would ensure his dark essence would never again return to wreak havoc upon the galaxy. There he would experience disembodiment in darkness, perpetual madness as if to always live with an open wound; terror without respite.

I didn't understand a word of this, but +1 because... I was not aware of the terminator's superior protective package.
Simple. Ugly people have a hard time trying to get laid. It first makes them bitter towards the opposite sex, then to the good looking people and eventually to everything capable of procreation. Normally these type of people are kept in check by their own awkward insecurities, but give them access to a power like the Force and -BAM... instant Sith.
