To those who are unaware The Dark Mods aims to create a set of editing tools for Doom3 to allow the creation of Thief-esque missions. And it looks freakin' sweet!

I would have commented sooner but the site keeps crapping out on me. I guess the demand outweighs their host's ability to meet it.
This is actually the first I've heard of it, but it looks damn good. I'll definitely be trying this one when I can get to download it.

It states you need Doom 3 in the installation instructions. I don't know if you'll be able to use another id tech 4 game instead.

I'm going to buy Doom 3 ASAP! I've been a Thief fan since I was a kid and I've been following the developement proces of The Dark Mod very close and hopefully this is everything Thief III was not.
Anyone who think Thief 4 will be better than TDM? I don't :D

So...how is the beta? nice gameplay? good graphics outdoor? 3rd person available?!!

The gameplay is basically just a serious of rooms to show of how the game will work and a few missions. The jumping feels a little strange though but I'm not used to D3 so that could be it.
Haven't been outside.
Haven't looked for 3rd person (but then I probably won't use it anyway)
But anyway, looks nice, quite polished and is going to be tweaked as it progresses. I'm very impressed.

Really, I hate 3rd person for stealth, and Thief 3 wasn't great.

Huh? I didn't sound like sarcasm. Anyway you are right that 3rd person sucks in stealth.
