PaulMuadDibUsul: Even WInAmp can play FLAC and it's a popular audio file player.
I'd recommend going for WMA Lossless. WMP plays them out of the box, and Expression Encoder is a free encoding application that is alive (unlike most FLAC encoding tools that are a few years old (talking about encoding tools, not players and other stuff that supports conversion to FLAC)).

Before somebody mentions licensing issues and stuff, the license is "Offered at no additional charge to users with valid licensed copies of the Windows operating system.". And since GOG is targeting XP, Vista and 7, this is not a problem.

spinefarm: Mm why do always put DJ's to dance music... I listen many diff genres ;) And trust me I can't make difference between a FLAC /320kbps Metallica album... the diff is just so small, that you can't make the difference.
Everything over 192kbps is ok (192 is for laptops/pc headphones...)
Can you hear the difference when listening with different headphones? I used to DJ too and I can notice a major difference between types even within the same company (ie Hesh to Skullcrushers to ROC aviators in Skull Candy).

So far I used 3 brands/models: Sennheiser HD 25 SP,Sony MDR ZX300 & Technics RP-DJ1200 ... I hear a little diff only on the Technics, but yet the diff is too small,to say that it is there. The difference between different qualities over 192kbps is almost unfindable for normal users.

Miaghstir: I do agree though, I'd prefer to have the option of lossless.

kavazovangel: WMA Lossless.
Sure, anything, as long as a converter exists that can read the offered format and convert it to the format I want (and my player can use). Lossless is lossless.

XRecode does a 'good' job ('good' as I haven't tested it much), if you want a single tool, instead of a tool for each format.

gameon: How about an option?

They keep the standard mp3 option, but ADD a high quality FLAC or WMA option for those who want it. So there are 2 options instead of changing it.

I'm happy with "bog standard" mp3, and wouldn't like to have to convert those crazy flac files back to mp3!
It will be hard cause they don't have the original audio files. They get what the publisher gave them. And I don't think that there is an digital shop that sales flac's. I guess for this matter we need either TET or someone else from GOG to give us a hint for the options :)

Sure there is.

You see OST's for non-indie games there?

No, but they sell FLACs. I replied to the question I interpreted, I apologise if I understood it wrong.

Yep you kinda miss the point :) I know about bandcamp... but they are indie oriented.

Well, not exactly in FLAC, but in WAV:

beatport.com
junodownload.com

But, yea, there is no game music on those sites.

That was my point... I guess I didn't write it correctly :D

Really? Only a little difference?

TheEnigmaticT: In a blind study, people with trained ears can't tell the difference between Monster Cables and a wire coathanger.

So I dunno if there's a perceivable difference between the two. ;)
Hi, i sent you a PM message about something unrelated!
