ThorChild: they should look to get the later remakes that are sometimes called 'Gold' versions.
That's what Gamersgate and possibly Steam are offering. Both DOS and Windows Gold versions with the XP patch.

JMich: Beginner's bug can also be fixed by modifying the exe, so you can have the Dos version without the bug.
Yep :) GoG could do that easily enough (if they were to get the games that is). I still play the original games from that Collectors edition. I do wonder how many old game lovers are left that do not also still play them, so that might be a consideration in terms of GoG making extra effort (if it is looking hard, as it seems it is?) to get them?
The GamersGate X-Com bundle is already on my wishlist. I'll get it there if I can get it heavily discounted, as I already have the retail X-Com collection (missing only the last game on the GG/Steam bundles). I know I should give the games another try, I got fed up with the tactical land battles before (in X-Com 1 and 2).
I tweeted 2K Games:

@2KGames Do you have any plans to release your games on GOG.com?

They responded:

@Barry_Woodward No plans at this time, but we're always looking for new platforms to get our games on.
@Barry_Woodward Thanks for the feedback!

Vote for their games on the wishlist:

X-COM: Apocalypse
X-COM: Enforcer
X-COM: Interceptor
X-COM: Terror From The Deep
X-COM: UFO Defense

BioShock
BioShock 2
BioShock Infinite
Borderlands
Borderlands 2
Sid Meier's Antietam
Sid Meier's Civilization
Sid Meier's Civilization II
Sid Meier's Civilization III
Sid Meier's Civilization IV
Sid Meier's Civilization V
Sid Meier's Gettysburg
Sid Meier's Pirates!
Sid Meier's Railroads!
Sid Meier's Sim Golf

Barry_Woodward: snip
Since you use that Twitter thing, think you can ask whoever owns Red Faction if that's coming here on GOG ? :P

SimonG: ... "Boycotting" ? They simply haven't come to a business agreement.
Boycotting. You say it. :)

Come one 2K. Just sign that offer you have gotten from GOG and increase your sales.

ThorChild: Steamworks is DRM (as Steam is DRM)? So not compatible with GoG's DRM-free stance i would think.
Comprehension problem is you.

Volition, if memory serves. They already have a semi-presence here in the form of Freespace (although I suspect the publishing agreement is indirect through Interplay)

Edit: Just been informed of a slight correction here - apparently THQ owns the rights to the Red Faction franchise, and Volition owns the rights to the games themselves. So THQ would have to get on board with Volition first.

The laugh of it is that 2K did actually have the audacity to implement CEG *in* the DOSBox executable, even though the Windows executable hidden within the SteamApps directory (which, may I add, doesn't work on Vista or Win7) is DRM-free and the DOS files can be extracted with no harm and no foul. This applies to Enemy Unknown, Terror from the Deep and Apocalypse. Enforcer and Interceptor - lest anyone actually be interested in these games - are CEG'd though.

The nice thing about getting these games to GOG would be access to fairly reliable tech support.
I don't know much about GG, so maybe their support is not bad. From what I know about Steam support, you're better off on your own usually.

I can, but why don't you get in on the Twitter fun as well? Maybe you can track down the original team that created Sacrifice and convince them with your tweets to reunite for a Kickstarter campaign to fund a sequel.

2K is very supportive of region locking, which GOG is against. So none of their games will show up here until THEY change their attitude.
I'd love to see the x-com games for sale on GOG, along with 2k's other games, mainly because I want to play them and i'm adverse to buying games from steam that aren't on sale.

Still, if anyone's interested i've been looking for a trade for the x-com complete pack. I have Half-life 2, Torchlight, The Ship and Nuclear Dawn to trade through steam plus a few spare humble bundle steam codes that are sitting unused

I doubt they would...
