Etdn: Apparently some people got 10+ games for free from using the code and if they don't take back this statement it looks like they are going to just take a loss on this mistake.
Translation = some employees are in trouble/fired for making Origin take such a loss.

Foxhack: Well crap, I wish I had no moral scruples so I could get tons of free games too! (This message is not meant for Coelocanth. I really do think they should give him his coupon for taking the survey.)
See, this is why you play evil characters. All Good PCs get is 50 xp and a lousy T-shirt.

Lol. Now I wish I had click the very last button to get the expansion pack for Spore. (Yea, I actually got to the very last step and retreat.......)

Anyway, got Darkspore, still quite happy. Not too many available games really interested me actually......
I find it interesting how gamers always bitch about greedy publisher but the second they can exploit a mistake, they are all over it.

Ever wondered why the industry doesn't take gamers seriously? That's why.

Notice how EA is honouring all their deals? Legally they don't need to do that. But yeah, F#ck EA for being greedy!

For this one thing I'll really give my complement to EA. Like last time they gave out free game, they accidently gave me an extra game. They just let me keep it.

Because publishers are evil, of course. Gamers are not the heroes we need, but the heroes we deserve. Or something.
I feel bad i thought origin was giving away a 1 time coupon code so I grabbed bulletstorm, I didn't know that it was suppose to be for filling out a survey.

i guess I will actually go buy something on Origin now.......

I've always marvelled at the tremendous hypocrisy of game modders. Most people online don't seem to have a problem illegally downloading movies, music, software or whatever from companies and individuals that have spent serious time and money making their product(s), but when you look at the readmes for mods that gamers have made, they all tell you how you can't touch the mod without their express permission, and it's only authorized to be hosted on X website, and bladibladibla. The same person who has 10 GB of stolen music on their hard drive expects you to respect their zero-cost mod. *rolls eyes*

How do you know that? Presumption of guilt?

Because it is known that some people do not respect copyright, is it wrong to want your own copyright respected?

I do not see the logical link between the two at all.
I thought my point was clear. Obviously there's no hypocrisy in wanting mod rights respected if one hasn't violated the rights of others. If one HAS illegally downloaded things, not respecting the rights of companies that have spent major money creating something, then it IS very hypocritical to ask people to respect your zero-cost product in turn.

For myself, I've always said in all my readmes that my mods are community property; I think games get better when mods can be freely altered by anyone.
And this is how human population in general is just wonderful.. Come on, why do this? If it's clear that you're not really supposed to get that, but are able to, why do it? It's not like I really love EA, but that's just wrong to do, even to them :/

Coelocanth: Yeah, I'm posting over in that thread (under a different user name) and I'm not impressed. They're willing to tell us legitimate survey takers to basically piss off while letting the scam artists get a ton of free games. Brutal.

Hi everyone,

Last week, we emailed some Origin users in North America asking them to participate in an online survey, and offered a promo code for $20 off their next Origin purchase in return for completing the survey. Unfortunately, due to some misuses of the promo code, we had to discontinue its use early before its stated expiration date.

We wanted to clear up the confusion: all users that completed the survey will receive an email soon (in the next 1-2 days) which will contain a new code for $20 off a purchase of any EA game on Origin priced $19.99 or above.

Thank you again to all users that took the time to provide us with feedback about Origin.
Awesome. Some communication about this over the last couple days would have gone a long way.
I would do the survey, free of charge, actually.

Surveys are fun. :P
