Great news! And great timing for me, as I picked up DDL copies of the classic X-COM games only last month. :)

Because an original copy of XCOM is needed I have a question: I still have a XCOM CD here somewhere, so do I need to install XCOM first or can I copy the needed files directly into the OpenXCOM-folder?

You should just be able to copy from the disc, but I'm not 100% sure (I used a digital copy).
