Lol headwards saying that if you BUY a steam game and then crack it it makes you no better than those that pirate and you should have just pirated in the first place. GREAT(and by that i'm being sarcastic) opinion, man.

But not really.

If I BUY a game(steam/etc) I expect to play it even if Steam went belly up as I BOUGHT IT, FFS. And as such that makes me better than a pirate even if I do crack those games later as the companies got PAID by me for the games, which isn't true when one pirates usually.

OnLive and other "game streaming" services are giant pieces of disgusting crap. Welcome to reality....

Perceived value of On.Live is quite low. You get the goods, but you will eventually loose them and money-wise they're not that great of a deal. Now if it were only a monthly subscription... that gives them a completely different spectrum. I guess $20 a month equals $240 a year and that's somewhere around what you'd expect of an average person to spend on games per year if he likes some new releases. But you'd have to have access to all the games, new or not, and not be limited too much. Five new unlocks and five trials per month? Heck, even I would give it a go under those conditions.

I played Second Sight for "free" on a free gametap account once. You could only tweak basic graphic setup options, the game still looked terribad on everything max that I could put up, and no custom tweaking allowed at all.

Plus when it was removed from the free list my saves went buhbye.

OnLive is utterly, utterly brilliant in the UK, where there is currently no subscription fee.

However, it isn't meant for those with proper gaming rigs, it's meant for me.

1) You have BT broadband (bandwith is free)
2) Your main 'gaming PC' is a netbook, or a tablet, or a mac.

To sum up what I've done:
Spent £1 to own (for 3 years) Arkham City
Spent £6.99 for one month's access to PlayBundle (for me, I want to play through Arkham Asylum, Just Cause, Borderlands, Just Cause II, Alpha Protocol and Bioshock)
Used the 30% off discount you get Deus Ex:HR for £11 and Red Faction Guerllia for £4.50 (for 3 years) , and Borderlands GOTY (£6)

But here's why this is an amazing deal:

I don't care if I'm "borrowing" the games - I know exactly what I'm getting myself in for. And it's utterly, utterly terrific. I wouldn't touch it with a bargepole if I had a proper gaming rig, but really, is the difference between Arkham City on medium and high really worth the difference between £1 and £1000?

Have fun above poster playing games on shitty resolutions and with everything turned down to make it playable. If that's ok by you I can understand but I could never play a game like AC on low settings. It'd ruin the immersion and look like shite to boot.

Well on a small screen it'd be better obv.....try setting it to the same levels on a 23 inch screen however, and it looks like 640x480. BTW what settings do they allow you to tweak using your on-live copies? The same as a bought copy or is it all simplified like with gametap?

An aside, another reason to buy is mods. I don't think on-live will allow mod support.

No tweakings at all on some games - can't even map controller on MLB2k11! !! If you have a PC that can run the games anyway, stay away - you are not the target audience!

Again, definetly wouldn't buy if I had the ability to run the games, and I wouldn't play a game like Oblivion where you need the mods anyway to get the full experience. DLC is also a bit dodgy - some have it, some don't.

Can I be clear though: there [i]is no subscription fee to OnLive[ in the UK/i],. You can simply buy one game (Say Arkham City) for £1 and never buy anything else, at least in the UK. You can subscribe, but only to the PlayPack, which is a bundle of about 90 games of which 10 I'd describe as AAA and the rest are Indie.

No tweaks or mods? Figures. And yeah over here it's gonna be subs AND paying for games. Which is even worse.
