Is simply the PC Castlevania.

I just completed the main game on Normal (excluding mission 7, it was too long and I died a lot here), and was a fantastic experience.
I need more games like this.

A Castlevania like the the original or like the post-SOTN ones? I'm a big fan of the former, not very much of the others.

The original, no rpg elements like in SOTN, only you and your life bar :)
never heard of it but you just made me download the demo ;)

That's great! Absolutely loved the series until Rondo Of Blood (my personal favourite)! I'm going to give a look to Oniken: if you vouch for its quality, it means it deserves serious consideration! :)
Thanks for the hint, I would have never known of its existence otherwise!

Here's a link for the demo.. The game has also a Boss Rush mode and Hardcore difficulty, if you are brave enough.

Hardcore difficulty is my bread and butter! :)
Time for a good challenge, it seems. Let me do some advertising: if you like the old Castlevanias, go for Volgarr the Viking if you haven't already picked it up. You won't be disappointed.

Voted. I have Oniken on Desura and it's indeed a nice game. I would love to see it on GOG too.

Just finished the demo (mission 1 and 2 of the game?) Not that hard. It plays like a mix of NES castlevania and ninja gaiden. Not bad at all. A bit cheap but only first run through of the level. It felt I got hit a lot without a chance to evade it (first playthrough) but then when you encountered it once, it's okay. I know that's oldschool and that's what they were going for but feels cheap these days and they can do better (see dark void zero). But overall very decent oldshool action platformer and it goes into my wishlist ;)

It's good, but I think it could have been a lot better. I didn't find it very challenging (though I haven't tried hardcore mode) and the controls are a bit slippery, which accounted for most of my deaths. However, it's a fun game that at least understands what made the old platformers great, even if it doesn't always get there itself, and the 80s anime cutscenes are just cheesy enough to be awesome.

I wouldn't really compare it to Castlevania, though. It plays more like one of the Ninja Gaiden-inspired NES sidescrollers from the early 90s, like Vice: Project Doom.
Well if someone wants a copy on Desura, I have one for the first person to reply and ask for it!

Are you sure, you just need to make an account and you can download the installer from the site and never use it again if you want (no client needed or anything)
