r10k: Blood was never overrated, KingofGnG. Most people had zero clue it was the best lan party game you could play (better than Duke by a mile), and is in many ways still unmatched in terms of depth and control when compared to what's come after it. Halo introduced some new features to the scene, sure, but the feel of its characters and quality of its level design are so far behind Blood it's scary. (punny!)
If Halo was good, it wasn't only because of the new ideas it arrived with (which in all reality, weren't many) It was also because it stood on the shoulders of the fps giants like Blood, long before it.
What new ideas did Halo introduce? Better graphics and you could drive vehicles. <snore>
In fact, all the new concepts that Blood introduced (alternate weapon firing modes, destructible environments) are oddly missing from Halo. The point of advancing technology is to build on the technology that came before it and improve it. Halo didn't even do that much, lol. Better graphics don't make a better game, All that glitters isn't gold dude, that's all I'm saying. How many games with great graphics turned out to be total shit? (Brute Force comes to mind)? How many movies with great special effects were complete crap? If I take a lump of shit out of my cat's litter box and have it plated in 24kt gold, guess what....its still shit! You can't polish a turd man, honestly.
Next he'll be telling us that Halo was better than Half-Life and we'll have to shoot him.
