SirPrimalform: Did you try the wayback machine?

Srsly, that is sad....

dizcology: There isn't exactly a room, per se. But there is just one scene, and you are trying to escape it: gods will be watching.
Um, that was a bit odd! But feel free to add something a bit less, shall we say, depressing? ;-p

leaguehq: My favorite is Sagrario's Room Escape. A silent, brightly-lit room, but eerie nonetheless.
Inscrutable! Sorry but this one was beyond me :-(

Some good puzzles in that one! Took me about an hour to finish.

Somehow brighter, not sure if any less depressing: TOOM

I should add that both these games are entries for Ludum Dare 26 (Minimalism).
I'm not sure if this one counts... but I loved it's nightmarish feel.
Forest from Vince XII, who gave us Resonance.

Wow, they are bleak, alienating and exemplify a growing facet of the human condition - isolation from real time, connective relationships with other human beings and a life lived reduced to basic survival, no matter how seemingly cushy.

But I suppose, as an art form, one room adventure games (escape or not) are most suitable for expressing bleakness and disconnectiveness.
This page seems to have a substantial collection of Room Escape games. No idea which ones are worth playing, though. I'll run through a few and report back if any of them stand out.
Not in as I don't play many adventure games and I've got no suggestion, but thanks.

Thanks!! I'll be insanely busy the next couple of days so bear with me while I beat this last week of classes into some semblance of finished ;-)
Not in (I didn't even know this genre until I read your OP), but thanks for your generosity, Momo!

Glad to see you're receiving so many good suggestions here. :)
I usually don't play these, but a while ago I found one which had a nice twist on the usual story. It's not an escape game, it's a Don't escape game. :-)
One room escape bump ;-p
