So I'm going on vacation for a week and because my laptop is very very weak, it's not a good idea to play any game post 2001.

So with that said, what games would you recommend me? Preferably something I can play and finish in said week.

my laptop's specs:

CPU: AMD Turion 64 1.6 GHZ
RAM: 2,5 GB of DDR2
GPU: NVIDIA® GeForce® Go 6100 integrated graphics with up to 128 MB

You can have a nice week with Gabriel Knight series which is on promo at the moment.
Tell us what games you like, we'll be more helpful with that knowledge.
Binding of Isaac :D

Oooh good suggestion :)

Austrobogulator: Binding of Isaac :D
Can't, even Super Meat Boy runs terribly slow on my laptop, so I'd assume the same would be true for Binding of Isaac
Gobliiins
Eador: Genesis or King of Dragon Pass - Both of them are huge games, with hundreds of hours of play each.
Ultima Underworld 1 and/or 2.
System Shock 2,is only 10 hours long.

I'm afraid it won't run on my laptop, yes, that's how crappy it is lol

iippo: Ultima Underworld 1 and/or 2.
Oooh might play 1

Oh you troll you :P
Well, what kind of games do you like most? E.g. there's no point in suggesting a bunch of point-and-click adventures if you're not fond of the genre, or turn-based RPGs if you prefer fast-paced Action games ...

Which pre-2001 games did you play already?

And how much time do you intend to spend with them? Seeing that you're going on vacation and might have better things to do, probably just 1-2 hours a day?

EDIT: But judging from your previous posts you seem to like RPGs and adventures? Also, does DOSBox emulation work flawlessly on your laptop? DOSBox seems quite resource-hungry to me, too (causing the sound to lag even on my desktop PC).

Well games like Doom, Ultima underworld and Master of Magic run fine on my PC.

Turok 1 also ran fine.

But Serious Sam 1 ran terribly so I just assumed that any game launched after that wouldn't work.

As for genres, mostly strategy, shooters, RPGs and adventure games.

As for how many hours a day... I have no idea, depends on my mood I guess :P
Syberia 1 & 2 should give you a nice run through in a week. They're really moving games, and well worth playing. Though you might want a walkthrough on hand when you get stuck, the hard problems are rarely satisfying to work out for yourself.

Ah that's a pretty nice suggestion, thank you! :)

Also, I edited the main post with my laptop's poor specs

Huh ?
Have you played the story-driven adventure games by WadjetEye games yet, Gemini Rue, the Blackwell series? They are comparatively short, 2-6 hours on average, I guess, and at least GR and Blackwell 1-3 ran fine on my netbook (I think Deception, Primordia and Resonance eat a bit more memory and might occasionally lag on loading on a very weak computer). In any case, if you haven't played them yet, you could download the demos from WadjetEye's homepage and see if your laptop can handle them.

If you like turn-based RPGs heavy on tactical combat and you don't mind the price tag, Knights of the Chalice is a good game to play on a low-end computer, too. Sadly it's only available from the developer, you can find a demo on its homepage. Should take about 20-30 hours to complete, which is short for an RPG (but maybe too long for the vacation?).

If you don't mind trying freeware, you could also check out , [url=http://rabotik.nl/harmony.htm]Harmony or Cave Story. They're all great games and I'd be surprised if they don't run on your laptop.

As for pre-2001 games, have you played Sanitarium? It's split in small chapters that are short enough to complete in one sitting each, so playing one every evening or so would be like reading short stories.
