Potzato: It seems not many people does see your point. I find it quite saddening that mostly everyone see a 'fault' here, even the dev saying 'tiny mistake' is filling me with consternation.

I recycle this thread for saying/yelling (once more) that I hate what steam did with big sales. It's once more a case where people 'have to' feel stupid for not paying the lowest dirt cheap price.
Thank you! At least someone here see beyond constant sales seeking and psychological marketing. :P

Tarm: Yeah I should have known
Yeah.
The image the first guy posted there probably sums it up. First big flash sale I had here in GOG the same thing happened with me.

No excuse for the attitude though. I think it might be the multiplayer and all of those achivements, people get too competitive.

give me a break. you aren't mad at steam for anything profound. You are mad cause you paid more for a game. that's it, nothing more.

I'm all about tearing the man a new one, but in this case, you are wrong, and no amount of justifications that you come up with after the fact will change that.

You would be mad for missing the opportunity to save $2.00 on a game ?

Read the thread again. I'm mad at steams practices. Their sales strategy. It's like going to a shop, buying a banana for half price, coming out the doors and seeing a new wall chart where they say Bananas is now suddenly on a one third sale and it's your fault that you aren't hanging around the place the whole day.
Basically it's taking away price trust with constant sales DURING sales like that.

Remind me, when did we find out that the Larry games would be on a bigger discount during the Winter Sale on GOG? What about Pharaoh and Cleopatra? The Settlers? Quest for Glory? Would buying them on Day 1 of the sale cause you to complain as well or not?
What if you bought a game on Thursday and on Friday it went on a weekend sale? Would you also complain about it?

As always, pay the price that you feel is right for the game. If you feel $6.99 is the correct price, you buy it. If you feel $6.99 is too expensive, but $4.99 is better, wait for the game to be $4.99.

Tell me if you want me to dig up the GOG relevant threads. Both for the season sales and for the 2 days early buys.
I thought I would see the usual full retard stuff, but most of them didn't give you bad advices.

I'm going after steam because I think it was they that started it. Steam is constantly trying to "lock in" their customers so they'll come to steam and steam only. I find that kind of marketing and business offensive if done as aggressive as steam is doing it. A big reason for flash sales is to keep peoples attention so they don't have time to look for alternatives and if the customer miss a sale it's the customers fault even if the vendor flash it to constantly keep the customer hooked.
Actually it's the vendors behaviour that makes it hard for the customer. Yes there are things that makes it easy like getting a email if a wishlisted game is on sale but again that makes you as a customer have to keep alert for said email.
Don't blame your customers for missing something like a sale should by darn be tattooed on the forehead of every business person there is.

Tarm: Steam doing sneaky sales is the customers fault? Hmmm...
The pattern of the sales is no different from their previous sales (or from the later GOG sales, for what it's worth). If anything, Steam sales are less sneaky than GOG as they last at least 24 hours.

I don't think it's anyone's fault. You were the one trying to find someone to blame.

I'm not sure about the flash sales. I do recall that the community voting started on GOG though, back in Battle of the Games.
Daily sales probably predate steam as well.

Either way, just like you've been answered in the Steam thread, you value your time more than your money. You spent ~€5 so you won't have to spend so much time on Steam, waiting for a better deal. Same reason quite a few people buy the games they want as soon as GOG sale starts, and why so many people disliked Insomnia sales (did you rant about Insomnia sale btw? It did "force" you to spend most of your time on said distributor, to save a couple of bucks).
That... Sort of is your fault :-P And it's fine, I grabbed Alien: Isolation and Wolfenstein for 50% off somewhere at the beginning of the sale and didn't have to bother with it since. God damnit, Alien: Isolation is brilliant and I won't get to play it until 30th, sucks!

That IS your fault.
