I've never been into real time rpgs with the combat all done through clicking, I get lost on what to do so I just and up clicking everything till it's dead, and then I get bored. I assume I just don't know how to play it. Loved Fallout, but that one is turn based, I guess that must have been difference enough for me.

So I want to ask to someone who's played: how is the combat? Having said it doesn't look like it's my style could I be wrong about the combat? Is it still worth it if it's not?

Also, should I buy the original or wait for the Enhanced Edition in november? I've only seen screenshots but haven't noticed much difference. I'll have to decide soon because I'm buying Planescape: Torment during the current promotion and it's cheaper if I buy both together.

The combat is realtime, but you can easily make it turn based-ish by use of the autopause function.
You can make it automatically pause:
At the end of each round (approx 6 seconds)
Everytime one of your guys gets attacked.
Every time one of your guys get's hurt.
Every time a spell is cast.
Every time your weapon is incapable of hurting the enemy.
Every time one of your guys get's killed.
etc, etc....

Well, you'd be doing a lot of fighting in both BGs. Combat works largely like in an RTS game, i.e. you wouldn't have to "click" for every single attack, but you'd need to keep an eye on lots of things simultaneously, like assigning specific enemies to your fighters, choose spells to cast or abilities to use. You can pause the game at any time to plan your strategy, though, if that helps you.

If this kind of combat design doesn't sound fun to you, you might wanna leave it at Torment, because combat in Torment is really not that big a deal. Dialogue and story-telling play a much greater role in that game, whereas Baldur's Gate is heavier on the hack&slash. The story in BG is very straightforward. It's not bad, but cmpared to other games in this promo (Baldur's Gate 2, Torment) it's nothing terribly special.

As for the Enhanced Edition: I don't know. You'd get more content in the EE, sure, buit that's probably only a few hours more in an otherwise massive game. And the EE comes at a higher price anyway, so you'd have to decide if those few extra hours of content justify the higher price point.

Buy original. With every news Beamdog is looking more and more unprofessional. I wouldn't be suprised if they delayed BGEE again.

Dude, you need to play these games. I'm going to gift them to you (I'll send the codes via PM on this site). Then either grab the Tutu mod or the Baldur's Gate Trilogy mod (I use the latter) and enjoy the hell out of these games.
