No it was an Xbox Exclusive. Then it became and Xbox and PC game. Then it it became an Xbox360 and PC game. Then Microsoft published it therefore it's 360 only.

Microsoft plainly stated that they won't support the PC in instances where more 360 sales could be made off the backs of games. I guess they think that Alan Wake is one such game. I don't know why personally. I lost interest a long while back. I can't even remember what kind of game it was supposed to be now.
Their recent return to bullshitting gamers isn't a welcome one.

I don't think it started as XBox exclusive (but I can't be certain). All early footage (and I think all footage before last year's E3) was on PC. And it was supposed to one of the selling points of Windows Vista and DirectX 10.

It did and the funny thing is Alan Wake was supposed to be a launch game for the Xbox. Check the inserts.

Ensemble Studios shuttered after they released Halo Wars. Real shame.

Could you please point me to specific source? Not that I looked hard, but only thing that I found so far was that it was announced at E3 2005. That's a little late to be a launch title.

I liked Microsoft's logic.
Since we think the experience will be better on Xbox, we won't even consider a PC release because it's not what we think would be a fun experience.

If this game ever comes to PC, it'll come prepackaged with GFWL, anyway... :|

After surfing the Alan Wake official forum, it is confirmed that it IS coming to PC, and not just Xbox. When they said exclusive to Xbox, they meant in terms of consoles.

They obviously meant it is not coming to PC. This is what a guy from MS apparently said:
"Some games are more suited for the intimacy of the PC, and others are best played from the couch in front of a larger TV screen. We ultimately realised that the most compelling way to experience "Alan Wake" was on the Xbox 360 platform, so we focused on making it an Xbox 360 exclusive. Both Microsoft and Remedy have long histories in PC game development. This decision was about matching this specific game to the right platform."
I guess that's why they released Halo Wars on XBox.
