I knew it'd be a disappointment.. Heh. It is the NEW Lucasarts we're talking about :(.

ajvitaly: I'm surprised they did not partner with GOG as well. I hope they will have their entire back catalog available.

Mentalepsy: Probably terrified of letting their 15-year-old games out of the house without a leash.
Maybe if they do well on Steam, they'll branch out to GOG. Maybe.

No they won't. For a stupid and blind company like LucasArts DRM is the best solution. If they have success on Steam they won't come to GOG.
I know this goes against popular opinion, but since I have no problem with Steam I think this is great news.
Frankly it looks like a pretty weak lineup anyway.

Kinda funny how Lucasarts used to be one of the most respected names in game development.

Just so's you're not alone, I'm pretty happy with this, too. The list of initial offerings isn't that great, but from what they are saying, it sounds like they plan to go back through the whole library to get everything they can running on XP and Vista, then make it available on Steam. X-Wing vs. Tie Fighter? Shadows of the Empire? Yep, that will make me quite happy.
Nice to see old games and also not so old games in this annoucement (maybe not so old titles like Republic Commando will receive a fix its bumpmapping compatibility troubles). Nice to see, at last, LucasArts selling their old games again.
But... Steam?... Aww, so disappointed...
I love LucasArts classics, but I don't (want to) use Steam. How will I legally get those titles?...
If GOG wasn't around, then yes Steam is the best option. But I'm now spoiled with DD games that have no DRM. If I want to play Loom and my son wants to Fate Of Atlantis, it would be a lot easier for us to do so via GOG downloads rather than A) put Steam in offline mode on one of the pc's (which sometimes doesn't work) or B) have the games on two seperate Steam accounts.
I look forward to the "Game is not available. Please try again later" messages when trying to launch Fate of Atlantis.
This probably won't change anything, but if everyone responds to the Twitter announcement with a "happy to see the old games back, but would have preferred GOG.com instead of Steam", it might make LA at least consider GOG.
I know you guys don`t like it but i like Steam(not Steam prices)and i`m happy seeing how Lucasarts bringing classics.I definitely buy a few games from this list. :)
Well this is what I thought would happen. I think I will wait a while to see if gog can get ahold of some of these titles even as much as I want to play the dig and indy games.
Oh, joy... This sucks so badly :-( Obviously they do not want my money.

Be happy that LucasArts is at least rereleasing these games. Now we have a way to get these old games.
They could have not released them at all.
Then again people are always going to find something to bitch about no matter what you do.

Misery loves company. I'd be quite pleased if they released Shadows of the Empire, I enjoyed the shit out of that game. I wish they had released a better initial offering, but since The Dig is on there I'm pretty pleased with it.

For the most part you are right about that. But we are on the GOG forums and not the Steam forums. So naturally the majority of posters want these games available from GOG. It wouldn't bother me that these games are available on Steam if Lucasarts showed some love to GOG.
