Outcast and Blade Runner are both stunning looking games. And Blade Runner actually does use voxels in in game characters, so they got something in common.
Flashback, Another World, Heart of Darkness, Diablo II (is this old enough for you? :-P)
abes odyssee and blade runner :)
shadowrun on snes was awesome at the time, it described the world pretty awesome

Sure, Diablo 2 is old enough, but I haven't never considered to be a good looking game. With the exception of the cinematics, the game is graphically pretty plain.

tomimt: I agree about bitmap art: even some games from the 80's got some pretty great art, especially on loading screens and so on.

Here's a load screen from a game called Game Over.
Not suprisingly, the original is from renowned fantasy artist Luis Royo:

Some of the Metal Slug games, Zelda Minish Cap (a favourite), Double Dragon (from the arcades).

The three NDS Castlevania games (Aria of Sorrow, Portrait of Ruin, Order of Ecclesia) will always look good no matter how old they get.

I have a soft spot for the original Prince of Persia title.

Some of the old Monkey Island graphics put the recent remakes to shame.
Lure of the temptress on the Amiga really impressed me at the time (1992) the characters
had nice fluid animation and the artwork was lovely

in that time (if nobody else has mentioned) One must fall, that looked awesome.
Broken sword 1.. or better yet discworld 2.

Edit: megaman x. =)

Yeah, Dune is a good looking game, but then again it was made by Cryo and while they got their share of sucky games they always do good graphics.
If I did not say that but always.. vagrant srory.
