So nobody here has had a similar experience with Origin?

It's stories like this which make me glad that I've pretty much stopped buying games from Steam; thanks to the HIB I've pretty much replaced almost all of my indie games with DRM-free copies.

When I left for Asia I thought nothing of continuing to use and buy games from Steam using my existing account, using my native Canadian servers (for some odd reason it wouldn't log me in using Korean servers). After reading a story about someone who practically got locked out of his account for doing something similar I realized I'd dodged a real bullet there. Apparently his account got flagged for some sort of anomalous activity because he was buying his games in the US, and then moved and continued to buy games overseas.

Origin has been 100% trouble free for me, getting better with every single update, and actually integrates with other accounts (like XBLA). That's not to say it's awesome but it lacks most of the shitastic policies Steam users seem happy to ignore while chanting "Never happened to me" and "But they (Origin/EA) scan your whole 'puter!"

I advocate this solely as a personal anecdote, I have about 6 Origin games, mostly purchased from Amazon.com.

Compared to Steam, Origin is simply less hassle, and far less restrictive. It's a shame their support had to go down the drain again though, they were doing so well in that area =/

The problem is, I CAN'T PAY IN PESOS. All my credit cards and PayPal are in US DOLLARS.

What's the issue with Paypal? They should be able to pay in either the currency tied to your CC/bank account or the currency asked for by the store.

I know with my heavily restricted Japanese Paypal account that I can pay in any currency. Is there any local restriction preventing Paypal from offering that service in your country?

... I thought Origin didn't accept PayPal. Guess I was wrong.

Still, my credit card IS the PayPal card, and I don't trust it to pay for something in non American currency. I don't want to end up being charged 80 dollars instead of 80 pesos. :\

I can't say I have ever tried to change my Origin account, but even EA is less anal than that.

you have the old Email, you have your Password, you have the new Email, and you have your Credit card info.

Oh wait. Origin doesn't accept PayPal in Mexico. They only have a Credit Card option. Phooey.

so while I was writing that I went and changed my Email account on Origin, it asked for the new email twice and my password ... then wanted me to verify the email address with one of those form letters.

and Origin uses your email address as your log in name, so basically you can change your account ID at will.

I say photocopy your balls and then send that to steam instead of the CD key.

*edit* it really sucks to be a "foreigner" that likes to play video games, I can't think of a single distributor beside GOG that doesn't fuck over non US residents.

So do we all heartily come to the eye-opening conclusion that GOG has the best email changing system and overall provides the best service?

Hopefully I never needed support from them. Having to write down your ticket number on your game is riddiculous. And what If i had several problems with my game? I am supposed to write all over the fucking place?

Steam has the worst support ever.
Origin HAD magnificent live chat support, but then they outsourced to India, and now they are as helpful as a horse. "I can't help you, I'm an Indian".
I thought you register your games on steam that you wouldn't need boxes anymore.

That's a fine example of a helluva great customer service.
