Spotted over at GameBanshee and Codex. What's Obsidian's secret project? Will RPG fans weep with much joy, or gnash teeth? Discuss!

Well that was.... incredibly vague.... :D
Nice logo? I don't know... There are so many great RPG's, they don't win any points from me with such a cryptic teaser, but they do earn a spot in my bookmarks so I can at least check up on it. ^__^
Tim Cain is clearly coming off South Park and spearheading Arcanum 2. If I say it enough times it'll come true, right?

I am thinking of cutting off some of my fingers and tying them together so they are permanently crossed in anticipation of this.

I'm more inclined to think they've suckered Square Enix into backing another game, this time cross platform for iOS.
I'm hoping for a medieval fantastic Sudoku.
I like finding obsidian in the woods.
Whatever it is, it'll use Gamebryo, the engine of the gods.

I'm not sure if you're sarcastic but isn't that Fallout/Obisidan engine? I never liked that engine..

Anyway, it's one annoying message but I can't help but feel a little hopeful for some secret RPG they are cooking up with.

Here's my speculation:

A cursed elven queen who lost her body (humanity) and must now scream so someone might figure out what happened to her.

I get some vibe from the Lord of the Rings during the early ages when even the elves were young..

They've only used Gamebryo for Bethesda titles. And yes, it's an infamously terrible engine and I can only assume Foxhack was being sarcastic. The thing is, the engine can be used pretty well. Divinity II - The Dragon Knight Saga actually disguised the horrendous Oblivion stage of the engine very well.

I'd like to think it would be a sequel to Planescape: Torment, but I doubt it. Just the ouroboros thing and the griminess that make me think of that.

Yeah if you've seen me post around here you'll know I hold no love for the engine. ;)

Some forums and sites seem to think this is a Dungeon Siege sequel.

OK, I won't have to hurt you then. I was puzzled as to why anybody would like the Gamebryo engine. FO3 used it and I saw most of the same bugs popping up in pretty much every other Gamebryo engine game.

There's always going to be bugs, but they've had years and apparently not felt like fixing them. And some of them really break immersion.
Dare I say.....Alpha Protocol 2?!
Wow, a site devoted to speculation! I can't wait to jump into it. Not. :-)

The only real indicator of Gamebryo that Div2 had was the way jumping/falling/sliding was handled. You can only jump if your feet are totally flat on the ground, so you can get stuck on top of objects just like in the TES games. Other than that, it was like it was a totally different engine.

The engine is kinda ancient at this point and one of its major drawbacks is its difficulty with lots of actors doing different things all at once. Considering that particular drawback, I have no idea why devs keep using it for RPGs, because everything always feels totally depopulated. I think perhaps that Bethesda simply cannot into coding, or perhaps they're just afraid of change.
