There is currently planning to build a mosque 5 blocks away from Ground Zero where 9/11 happened.

Of course there is already a petition against it:

I am up for tollerance toward other cultures, but i think that's to far.

Islamic people were killed in 9/11 as well. I don't really have any concerns about this.
Well, you've managed to destroy your own argument by bringing up Hitler in the opening post, so congrats I guess?
Beyond that, how exactly does the fact that extremist muslims flew airliners in to the WTC mean that Islam should be banned from the area?
Actually no. They're building a COMMUNITY CENTER that so happens to house a mosque and is funded by moderate, non-extremist people who are for the promoting of Islam, just like others are for the promoting of Christianity, Scientology, Children of the Atom, etc., actually something like five blocks away from ground zero. They're building a skyscraper ON Ground Zero.

Thanks, already edited out.

That leaves the question: Why so close to that point?
They could've done it somewhere else, this is just provocing the right wingers and people who are still traumatized by 9/11.

And yet you left the rest of your post, which makes no sense.
Unless you can actually explain WHY this is such a horrific concept or something.
He's probably been watching Pat McDonnel, a Youtube blogger who talks about this kind of thing and who made a video saying it was a 'disgrace' and stuff.

Because I like that to notify you guys here. My comments are not the bests, I know, but I personally think this is a dumb move from muslims screaming for tollerance. This just provocates right wingers, like I said.

Never heard of him and don't care what some Republican said. What matters me that we get a better relationship with muslims, but if they throw oil in the fire it just makes it worse IMO.

If the right wingers are so close minded as to think about this in a clear and rational way (Al-Qaeda is NOT, I repeat, NOT NOT NOT NOT NOT NOT NOT the same as the average Muslim), then that's their problem. I think this is a good idea because it would show that despite the 9/11 attacks and the War on Terror, Americans (some of them, anyway) are still able to welcome other cultures and religions.
Sorry, not seeing the issue here. For one thing not all followers of Islam are terrorists. Further, not all terrorists follow Islam. Whether or not the specific terrorists who destroyed those towers and killed thousands of people followed Islam doesn't really make a difference to the fact that so many people died.
Besides, have you considered how many of the dead and their relatives (not including the terrorists) and those who visit the site in future, also follow Islam?

Okay, but WHY is this a dumb move?
How is building what is principally a cultural center several blocks from the WTC site an awful thing? It isn't like they're building the Mohammad Atta Memorial Center for Plotting to Kill Democracy.

I do, but there aren't only those following Islam. There also Christians, Jews, Zoroastrians, Hindus, all kind of loony sects, and you can't just block them out.
Like I said, I think it's a bad move, but don't think that makes me a right winger. I am a democrat, but lately I reconsider that every action has consequenses and can turn out bad. I'll be off for now, we can discuss this later.

I can't think of one reason why its a bad idea
It seems like a bit of an odd choice to build there. If i was in charge of building mosques id probably avoid that area. But theyre well within there rights to and i have no problem with it. You shouldn't judge an entire group by the actions of a few individuals.
People get offended way too easily. Who cares?
