Hello all!

Well as the title states I absolutely love music, all kinds of music. To me it's one of the greatest things in existence, along with art, film and of course video games. I have loved music as long as I can remember, and started playing music about age 5, and studied for guitar under Royal Conservatory of Music training at about age 9. No matter how bad or good things get in life it has always get in life it allowed me the means to convey such emotion and passion in ways I am not particularly adept at verbally. I say this so you can understand where I'm coming from when I say that it brings me such joy to see creative musical works from 8bit video games to epically constructed orchestra works.

Lately, I have rediscovered my love of the Mother (or EarthBound) series as stated in another post I made recently. As I was searching through some other YouTube videos I came across some fan made productions based on said series and I thought they were absolutely wonderful. I thought to myself, wouldn't it be great to show these to others that may not have come across them. I hope those reading this enjoy them as much as I have and feel free to comment, and discuss these or any music that really resonates with yourselves. :)

Eight Melodies (from Mother/EarthBound Zero)
Eight Melodies (from Mother 2/EarthBound)
The Drugstore Sells Sparks (I love playing this one on guitar)

*Warning the second link has SOME end game spoilers for EarthBound in the video, so if you don't want to see them don't watch the video. However, the song it's self has no game spoilers. :)

Very nice choice, I love the ambiance and gravitas such works can have. :D

So true, Nietzsche always was good for a quote. Kind of reminds me of another old quote, "It is the province of knowledge to speak, and the privilege of wisdom to listen."
It's always a good thing to listen to more than just one genre, especially if you're a music creator. People should be able to hear a base of influence but still hear a unique sound.

That's been my experience, anyway, though admittedly other than people offering to produce my tracks I haven't had much feedback on my own work :)
I like especially dramaturgic, operaesque music, where that term isn't easy to define. It is mostly long songs (or concept albums) but not always. A few famous examples:

Bob Dylan - Mr. Tambourine Man
Led Zeppelin - Stairway To Heaven
Meat Loaf - I'd Do Anything For Love (But I Won't Do That)
Nightwish - Ghost Love Score

Have you listened to Brandon Small's Galaktikon?

The first part of this song makes you think of being in Space.
There was a 25th anniversary Zelda symphony a little while back.
Here it is: http://youtu.be/6Qp-ypYp6rQ

Really cool to see some of the making of videos too:

Wish they would do these for more game soundtracks.
All of those posts are fantastic, so much great music. It is fantastic to see such great works from so many different styles of music. :)
