Luisfius: The first rule of a Steam Sale is this: Do not buy ANYTHING that is not a daily deal unless it is already at 80% off or something. Especially not a high profile title.

UNLESS it is the last day of the sale. Then all bets are off.
unless it is a DAILY. It won't go lower than when it is a daily. And numerous of them don't get up to 80% off.

Bought it before the sale. I just got into gaming's online/Steam community, so I had no idea Steam had developer weeks or sales like this prior to a few months ago. No idea this one was gonna happen till the day it opened on Steam

And of course, from time to time there are pricing fuckups, both of "this is discounted more than planned" and "this is discounted LESS than planned"

I don't think there's been an example of the former this time around, but for the latter? King Arthur was advertised as 33% off at first, which is obviously not good enough.
Then they rectified it so it was like 85% off. Hell yeah I actually impulse bought it.
Tried the wings of prey demo yesterday. It's not a game I mostly would buy but seemed fine. Well, I'll take a nosedive as in, I manouver good but I dont hit those with machineguns, they hit me (that was realistic mode, don't now even want to think that simulation). Well.. it was pretty cheap. And there is arcade mode. Not going to play in that.. just because, if if you turn around too much or make a loop.. screen will go almost black.. and if taking rielly good dive, blood will rush trough your head. that activation system was from ass but I got it working..
Now I bought GTA IV and those gay deeälcees.
Played the game before but what you gonna do.
It's not masterpiece but a great game.

Foxhack: Why does a thread discussing Steam always have to go into the "Steam is a rental service" and "DRM is ebul" arguments? WHY?

Guys, really, you can talk about that in other threads. We're just discussing the game sales here. :(

Deadboots: Who's arguing, and who said it was a rental service?
This guy below did:

slash11: It should be renamed to Steam rent 2011 thread ^^.
Kings Bounty is so worth it, loved every moment of it, instant favorite game, although I might be biased since I like turn-based more than real-time strategy. Love those games.

And I passed up on Guild Wars, but now am kind of regretting it. Maybe Steam will have a re-sales day. :/ You guys make it sound so awesome...
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO, you skip Guild Wars? :(

OTL OTL OTL

Well, it's cool. It only went up by 5 bucks.

Hope you can get it someday. :) I just play it and play it on my old toon, it brought a lot of fond memories for me. :D

Going to preorder the moment I can.
still waiting for portal 2 and fallout 3 goty... and maybe mass effect 2 (come on EA don't be a b!tch)

did dragon age already have a franchise sale?
I'm still hoping just GTA IV, without the add-ons, will get cheaper, but I'm not holdiing my breath. I'll get it some day! And before the sales end, I'm going to pick up Uplink and Spectromancer. I'm only waiting to see if they have a daily deal. But I'll definetely get them. Other daily deals I'll think about, but I really am cheap. :P *crosses fingers*
So far I've purchased Guild Wars Trilogy, King's Bounty Platinum Edition and Batman: Arkham Asylum GotY Edition through the daily sales... Awesome discounts! :D

The only one I was slightly disappointed with, price-wise, was Guild Wars going from -33% to -50% -- when compared to King's Bounty (-80%) and Arkham Asylum (-75%), IMO the price should've been lower and that made me skip the Eye of the North expansion. Still very happy with the trilogy though ;-)

Is GW2 going to be 'playable' (as in enjoyable and easy enough to accommodate with) for people that haven't played GW(1)?
If the price tag isn't absurd on that one, I think I'm going to join and would love to travel with a few fellow GOG members ;)
Atom Zombie Smasher is lots of fun so far. Have to adapt strategies on the fly with your highly specialized units. Poor accuracy of your most powerful area effect weapons means you can't always spam your way to victory. Forces you to use random mixes of units each mission. Easily worth the sale price.
