oasis789: What do y'all think about the King's Bounty Platinum package? $17.49 for King's Bounty the legend, armored princess and crossworlds?
I bought the Platinum pack much cheaper earlier in the year. $10 at most so wait as it might be in a franchise sale later in the week.
avatar
Smannesman: Why is Mount & Blade: With Fire & Sword cheaper than Warband?
It's one of life's mysteries.
IMO It's because it's simply not as good. There are less options in F&S and in all honesty it feels exactly like what it is, a mod. Warband is the much better overall game.

TheEnigmaticT: There's three hours left. Should I get Trine? I'm indecisive.
avatar
deadfolk: Are you kidding me? At that price? You GoG people must be seriously underpaid. ;P
Look at it this way: I have a game catalog of 350+ games which are free to me for the asking. Is Trine worth the two bucks anyway? :P

Good call. Yeah, I'll wait for 1C to show up on daily deals... If not, oh well.

If you like platform games with beautiful graphics and music, then yes, you should buy Trine.

I'm just baffled that you didn't get it in the last humble indie bundle.

I got it, but still haven't played it. :P

Siannah: Only have Mr. Robot and haven't played much. However, all 3 have free demos on Steam - checking out yourself >>> any recommendation.
avatar
taczillabr: Thanks, Siannah. Yep I probably should try them before the sale's end, yet I instabuy anything that is $2.50 or below if it interests me, we'll see. :)
If you haven't bought it already, i loved mr. robot. you should really try the demo, i tried it, played it for a few minutes and bought the game for the full price immediately. i'd buy it even if it were 20€. a friend of mine loved it too. it's a simple, old school game with characters brimming with personality and charm, and full of sci fi references (even the robot's name is asimov :)). i found it very relaxing and very fun, and the story is really charming. many people complained about the music being dull and repetitive, i loved it to bits. the fights are done in jrpg style, and don't expect much from them (though it's really fun how all the terms are computer related since you're basically "hacking", you fight worms and viruses, use firewalls to protect yourself, navigate through gpus, cpus, ram etc). but most of the game is about puzzles, exploration and platforming anyway. just try the demo for 5 minutes :)

wvpr: How fun is Alpha Protocol? Do people like it more because it's fun to play, or because the different outcomes are interesting to experiment with?
avatar
cw8: It's great, your shooting and stuff like dmg are based on your character stats instead of your aiming, which is a big turn off for quite some people who are expecting Modern Warfare and thus bringing down the user review scores (screw them).
It has quite an interesting plot, though the game is short for me, but should be more than worth it for the Steam sale price, not sure how much it is I can't see it on Steam. There are lots of choices and paths for you to choose to take in the game.
Not sure if they fixed the bugs too, as there are some glaring bugs and glitches on release but that was during release.
I remember reading that some of the weapons are really useless.
What kind of weapons should I go for? Rifles? Pistols?
Installing the game now.

Also got Bully and just played it for half an hour. Seems like an interesting game, but once again, it's a terrible console port. Found the controls really unintuitive and I don't have a gamepad (hate them).

Also picked up M&B Warband, but probably won't play that for a while.

Also bought Civ III from Steam a while ago. Why won't GOG get that game instead? :(

I played through Alpha Protocol using only pistols, because, frankly, it becomes quite overpowered by the endgame and it helps keeping me stealthy.

(There's this pistol ability that will kill the hell outa most bosses and subbosses if you use it).

Funny you should ask.
Mr Robot gives the impression it will become deeper than it eventually does. The battles in particular don't change much from the beginning. It has a lot of good 3d box-moving puzzles, though, and it's presented well.

Trine is slightly shallow and repetitive but still good for many hours of platforming. It's gorgeous to look at and listen to. The physics turn straightforward stacking challenges into sandbox fun. They elevate every aspect of the game.

But...I'd have to *cough* wo...

wor.....

IT'S KILLING ME!!!

Deep breath...

WORK???!??!?!??!!!!

Seriously, though, I'd love to. If I could leave Ireland. And I didn't already have a job working on a cool web site. And I was actually a web dev (as opposed to super-ninja-backend dev).

And I could be bothered.

Falci: I'm just baffled that you didn't get it in the last humble indie bundle.
Same here. That's where I got it as well.
I think for you it's less of a question whether or not it's worth the two dollar (I'd say that it is), but rather if it's worth your time, where it has to compete with a lot of classic games.
For me, the game ranges at 'ok, but not exceptional', if that's any help for you.
Have you tried to watch a simple game-play video on youtube? Do you even enjoy that genre?
Personally, I'm looking forward to Trine 2, simply because of the cooperative multi-player aspect.
And now that I know you got a Steam account, I wonder if there's any non GOG sessions going on at your office ;)
