As far as the Torchlight thing, don't get it if you don't want it. I just liked it alot and it was a "must buy" for me. But Torchlight regularly hits the $5.00 range on sales, so if you miss it for this price, you can likely find it down the road for just a bit more.

Broodmothers are bare breasted and unavoidable. They're pretty monsterous though. Also rare.

Defense Grid is a prototypical tower defense game. A very good one but you aren't going to get anything significantly different than you would out of most WC3 tower defense games. Like them, it's mostly about placement and blocking off certain routes.

Why don't you just get the paradox fantasy pack? It has Elven legacy, all of its expansions, Majesty 1 Gold, and Majesty 2 with all of its expansions for $7.99. It's 84% off, so I doubt it'll go any cheaper.

It should run. Probably rather slow, since your processor would bottleneck it, but I believe it will run.

EDIT: Nevermind, it WILL run, and fine. I'm running a dual-core 3Ghz processor, but I disable a core for Dragon Age since otherwise it makes my PC crash. And it runs perfectly, so you should be safe :)

I tried the Torchlight demo and it seems nice enough, also quite friendly towards low end computers. But since I'm not really a convinced Steam customer yet, I'm wondering if I should get it from Steam for 2.99 now or if it's worth it to pay a few more euros to get the retail version which I read is completely DRM-free and doesn't even have a disc check ...

Are there any advantages / disadvantages of buying it from Steam vs. buing the retail version, apart from Steam requiring the client and the Steam version being automatically updated?

Also, I read that there's some kind of editor available for it? What can you do with that and are there any mods or fan created levels out there for Torchlight? If so, would they be compatible with both Steam and retail version?

And last but not least, in the unlikely case that anyone here is familiar with the German retail version, does it have an option to install the original version or is it German language only?

Hm, I can't claim I really have a clue what those features entail but from what I've read I think I wouldn't miss the cloud support and as far as achievements go, I'm not sure yet if I consider them advantages or disadvantages. I'm not that interested in comparing high scores and I'm afraid that achievements might feel like a Director's Cut to me, something that might ruin the experience of a purist who just wanted to play the original game the way it was meant to be ... (Yeah, I'm prejudiced like that.) ;)

BTW, are there likely to be any consequences if you fake the billing information when paying via PayPal? IMO they don't really need this personal data when someone makes an online purchase via PayPal, I suspect it's only required because they were too lazy to change the system they use for credit card payment, and I'm sick of spreading my personal data all over the internet (e.g. giving out a telephone number when all I want is to buy a game).

(Heh, sounds like I'm not really the type of customer Steam is looking for ... I just wish all DD sites were as uncomplicated and DRM-free as GOG. :( )
