stonebro: Try buying your girlfriend / wife a potato for her birthday and explain it by saying it's an underrated jewel. The aftermath is how bad playing Daikatana will make you feel.
avatar
Weclock: no dude, potatoes are freakin' awesome.
try coal.

No you see coal is what's used to make diamonds. Daikatana does not make a good game so the comparison is a little off. How bout we replace potatoes/coal with something more akin to Daikatana. How bout the dead carcass of a skunk? Yeah. Give that to your girlfriend/wife and you'll get the same reaction as if you gave Daikatana to a person who enjoys video games.
In keeping with the thread topic (sort of), I am must beg GOG please, PLEASE don't add Daikatana to the catalogue!
Please add the entire series of the Myst games to GOG.

cogadh: Please tell me you're joking :p

Weclock: if it was put on here, I'd probably give it a whirl, I do think it needs to be kept around in maybe some sort of gaming museum where anybody who wants to play it can, just as a reminder how shiatty things can become. the game was all media hype, and no substance.

I'd love to see it as a "Hall vs. Romero" Ion Storm bundle - Daikatana and Anachronox.
I didn't think Daikatana was *terrible*, but it looked ugly and was hideously overhyped. I wish that Daikatana's Q2 rewrite budget had been sunk into Anachronox though - both games would have turned out better :)
I'd definitely like to see more RPG fare, or things with interwoven RPG elements. I've heard excellent things about the Age of Wonders (especially Shadow magic) and Heroes of Might and Magic series for instance.
Otherwise, Radix: Beyond the Void should be revived from Epic's back catalog for GoG consumption. A calssic FPS where you can't stop---perfect for the unstoppable GoG!

drmlessgames: Why the hate? Daikatana was such an underrated jewel of a game!
avatar
cogadh: Again, please tell me you are joking. Daikatana has a hallowed place in the hall of fame for the worst games of all time. Much of that stems from the excessive pre-release hype it got, but it is much more than just not meeting expectations. Even if there had been no hype at all, Daikatana is still a horrible muddy mess of a game.

Well, i kinda am, but I would like to try out daikatana, to see if it lives up to the levels of crappiness everyone gives it.
Thief.
Since JoWood is here, getting Industry Giant 2 shouldn't be too difficult. It isn't playable on any modern hardware, and it was the only economic game i enjoyed... Because of the free play option :x
Yeah i know Capitalisms are here, but IG2 isn't exactly the same.
While at it, Traffic Giant was enjoyable as well.
Oni, an old Bungie game with Ghost in the Shell... I meant, with soul. It isn't available anywhere, and even if i would manage to pirate it from torrents, I fear it still wouldn't play.
Apart from these fairly little-known titles, I'm sure big names like Heroes of M&M 3, Arcanum, Baldur's Gate and (*bows*) Torment would bring a WHOLE BUNCH of new, ready to pay customesrs. And some old too, me alongside them.

It can't be as bad as the bugs in Daggerfall :D

DEAR GOD MAN!
so, like, what arcanum and bloodlines?
bloodlines would seriously be like.. bricks in my pants kind of deal. I have it on steam, but if you guys sold it with the soundtrack, I'd buy it on soundtrack alone. although, I do already have a copy.. the legitamacy of that is not clear though!

This would be awesome, Bloodlines won a level design award for good reason and with Arcanum, who DOESN'T want to use a shotgun/sword combo.

Holy crap! Troika is right up there with LucasArts for me. Unfortunately I already have Bloodlines, with a legitimate soundtrack copy (gotta love Best Buy special editions), but Arcanum or Temple of Elemental Evil would be an instant buy for me.
Since Troika went under i wonder who owns the rights to their games, the publishers?
